This is a request from ibraidhair. As a curly girl, she was curious to see how we straighter haired girls went about using our t-shirts to dry our hair, since we don't "plop." Enjoy!

Hello, my lovelies, so I am doing this very short vid for one of my friends. I write hair. She has a blog about hair and um. She is one of my curly girls, one of my long hair curly, girls um, and she has always used a t-shirt to drive her hair. She plops and most of my curly girls out there probably already know what that is, but um. She didn't ask that. I kind of show her what it is. I do with the t-shirt, that's different, because she has a lot of straighter hair. Ladies, that participate in her blog and I was like sure, I'd be happy to so um. Recently in one of my vlogs, I talked about how I switched from this towel to this t-shirt thing that I made um for the out of the shower and hair drying portion of my day. Um, a towel kind of sucks um do have to use a beach towel because my hair is so long and as you see it sticks up quite a bit and if you go to move your head, it's very heavy and it falls down. So this is not the best option, um not to mention how fibers are a little scratchy and rough. So I switch to this. This is a t-shirt um if you are a shorter girl and actually have like t-shirt, nightgowns, an old t-shirt line gown. That will be long enough. That'S awesome! I did not so I so the bottom of a t-shirt onto another t-shirt, alright. So this is what I do. I go to the bottom of the shirt, run, my hand up through the neck hole and then I'm gon na grab. All my hair II pull this up as such pull my hair down through and then I'm going to put the neck hole pretty much around my neck, make sure all my little hairs are in there hi um and now I'm going to twist twin stuff. I could probably cut the arms off, but whatever um yes and I'm twisting so that I can wrap around my head in a circle, then I'm going to take the tail end and kind of thread it up around. The first part of the wrap give a little pull, and now I have a turbine that is light. It does not made my neck hurt and stays put yeah. That'S it um. For some reason, the t-shirt material actually does a better job of wicking, the water away than the tunnel. I'M thinking it's because when we use a towel, we kind of do this number to dry ourselves, and you don't want to do that with your hair um. I'M not really sure why it works. It'S probably some sort of science, something um, and while I love science, this I can't explain, but it does work. It is definitely a lot with West late. Let'S wait on your neck and it stays put. So you can just put it up and not worry about it for a while, if you don't feel like messing with it. Alright, I hope that helps um. I hope you all give this one a try. I think you will notice market improvement, I'm at least in your day after you shower, but alrighty um. I love you guys. I will see you next time and until then have a great thing: bye,

Thurston: I've recently out-grew my XXL t-shirt (in hair length, I mean) and I've been having a difficult time getting all of my length inside. Your idea of sewing the bottom of one shirt to another is genius!! I'm off to Walmart now to buy some shirts to replicate yours. Thanks again, Torrin for such great hair-related ideas!! Love your vids!

Kim: Been using a big tee to wrap my hair after my shower for over a year. This is the way to wrap your hair after a shower. Hair gets more moisture absorbed in the tee vs. a towel and the tee takes less time to dry out vs a bath towel when you’re done. Less breakage and stress on the hair due to the soft tee fibers vs. hard towel wrap. Plus it’s a personal stamp on HEY- this is MY hair tee towel

lauren britton: I have use the T-shirt now two weeks in a row. I love it. To get my hair to dry even faster I use to T-shirts. It's amazing :-) I can't wait to enlongate my T-shirts as I still have some length that hangs out of a normal size T-shirt. Thanks Torrin!

morningsdaughter: I have waist length hair, and always admired the turbie-towels that my sisters had for their hair. And then for Christmas my roommate's mother custom made one just for me! Now I don't have to mess with regular towels(which were too short) or towel sheets(which are quite heavy)!

gum: Just tried it today! I feel SO comfortable with it on. I don’t know if you sleep with it or not but it’s tempting !

HappyComfort: Thank You Torrin for that! I can't wait to try it! This could be such a relief! Just gotta get a tee long enough. You made my day!

Cubelixa: I've been using my husbands old t-shirts that don't fit him anymore for a while now and they actually do a way better job in drying my hair than my microfibre hair turban (which was pretty expensive)!!

Vicky S: OMG! Ever since your video I've been using some XXXLG men's long sleeve t shirt's that I found on clearance at Sam's Club for 2.99. It's actually long enough that my hair isn't sticking out. My bath sheet was too short for my hair. Love,Love, Love this method! p.s. my picture is from 3 years ago. Now my hair is down to my lower back.

JJJLongHair4u2c: Great idea :) I just use the t-shirts in flat sheets (cutting off the main part) and tie them. Thanks for sharing your idea.

truepeacenik: Oh, Torrin, even when I'm being mindless and just watching for grins, you give me the giggles!

Nicole Holly: I'm always so happy when you upload new videos because I just love your personality and the awsome tutorials that you do, your so creative. Love the bathroom makeover, I liked the way it looked before to especially the seashell pictures you had hanging up but this looks very cute to. Take care

krystalviv: Thank you so much! This is such a great idea!!!! I'm going to wear a t-shirt turban if we go to the beach on vacation and when we go boating this summer YAY great start to my Monday morning =D You're the best!

Lori Hulstine: BRILLIANT!!!!! The turby twist doesnt hold my hair either. I do have longer hair then you but way thinner. I'm so glad you showed how to use your T-shirt towel because I'm a visual learner. I'm making me one now. Awesome job!

María Perez: one of the reasons why i cut my hair a month ago (almost your length :() was because i hated drying/brushing/washing/etc times! Im sure this would'd helped... now i have to wait for it to grow again!! hahaha ur vids are amazin' i have so much fun with them! take care xxxxx

MrsBrit1: Totally gonna start doing this. I've been reading about using tshirts, but haven't tried it yet. Considered getting a turby, which I saw one classic length gal using, and she does her hair the way I do mine. A t-shirt could work the same way, though...plus, it would mean I don't need to buy anything! Ha!

3grrrlsknit: I'm so glad you did this video because I really had the wrong idea about how to use a t shirt to dry my hair! I was going to cut one up the front, but I didn't see how it could cover my tailbone length hair any better than a towel.

Angel Hernandez-Headden: Thank you!!! So cool!!! I use a tshirt but wasn’t putting it on that way! Love it

Norah Holder: Thank you so much! It feels way more comfortable, I'll have to use this all the time.

sempra_xiii: Wonderful ! I actually have a towel on my hair right now and it keeps falling down every damn minute xD will be a wonderful trick for henna time too :)

LaDollyVita33: This is great! I think I have some old shirts I can use too! Love it!!

The Gracklepeck: I've noticed a fantastic difference since switching to a soft tshirt to dry my hair instead of a heavy towel. Being a fine haired gal, I was noticing a lot of breakage around my hairline and thought, hmm, what is causing all this? Guess what grew out and isn't a problem anymore? Those hairs along my hairline. Cotton tshirts are the best!

pheeuh: i'm so glad i found your videos because my hair is extra long like yours, and no other youtube channel can help me with that, love the videos!

Erica Sandquist: Love this! Thank you so much! And you're adorable

JennieChan: I have never thought of that. I am so trying this when I wash thanks for the tip

MissCarrie: Thanks for the answer! I was actually just curious about the time YOU keep your hair in the wrap/towel. I know people who take it down almost immediately and some leave it for up to 30min... :O)

MissCarrie: BTW: for how long do you leave your hair in the wrap?

MrPewterDude: You have a wonderful personality. I'm sure you are helping a lot of people with your videos. I don't know if you have been asked this question before, but do you take vitamins for your hair?

MissCarrie: Thanks for showing us how you do this :-)

Kellie Sheppard: I love this, works so much better then a towel!...I know this isn't really relevant to this video but I was wondering where you(or anyone) measures their hair length from(hair line or crown)?

Lisa Connor-Wacky: I recently switched from my supposedly microfiber Turbie Twist to plopping with a long sleeve Tee ala Waterlily716. My waves love it & it's more se ure.

Michelle C: This video is old, but I still want to say thanks. The sewing the shirts together! Why didn't I think of that! ☺

torrinpaige: I didn't really start doing anything fun with my hair until I hit waist length. But so far as a toolkit to be able to do most of my styles? I think I can whip up something. That's an excellent idea for a vid. Thank you!

Emmag_lupin: This is so so cute! I love you Torrin!! Xoxo

hypsens88: Oh i will have to try this! I will look for an XL tshirt in the house. Thx Torrin!

mleung25: love your vids, heather! something i've been thinking about for a while, but i was wondering if you could create a toolkit for your 'shorter-haired-self,' so to speak, what would you put in it & why? i was just thinking what you would consider essential hair tools for those of us who are growing out our hair & trying out your style tutorials. thanks!

Zeelols: hi! thanks so much, very helpful. i can tolerate the t-shirts weight and feel much better on my head. :)

emmerline76: Oh heather your so awesome !! for showing us this, a towel hurts my head to i have to use a giant bath towel, i'm so going to try this :D

tnchelle1: I LOVE this idea! Thank-you...thank-you! Off topic a bit here...did you paint your bathroom? Lol... Or is this another bathroom? Love the color! :)

Poppie-Amelia Freck: Bloody iPad. Right I was wondering if you could please do a tutorial of Rebekah's crown braid from The Vampire Diaries? I seen Siobhans and it looked great but seen as your hair is even longer I would like to see what it looks like, thank you x

HeavenlyLove47: Thanks this was really helpful :)

Elisabeth Ashton: How much does it take for all your hair to dry?

MissCarrie: Cool! Really wanna try it now :D

Need More Coffee: OMG I am 30 seconds into this video and I just really frickin' love your vibe and your bathroom. You're a good vibes person!!

nursefuzzywuzzy: I no longer have my long hair but even when I did I used a t shirt material Pillow case on my hair. I still use my pillow case though my hair is now shoulder length.

Jarcies: thank you! i tried this and it worked

sarah: You're awesome! Thank you so much! <3

Poppie-Amelia Freck: I was wondering whether you would do your own tutorial on Rebekah's crown braid from The Vampire Diaries

Maddie Fry: You are so cute ❤️ Thank you for this tutorial!!!

rosielxxrik: I have a silk T and when I wrap my hair and let it dry, it is super shiny after :D

torrinpaige: Ah, I gotcha. If I'm going somewhere, it's up long enough for me to get dressed and do my make-up - so 15-20 minutes. If I'm going nowhere, it can be up for 20 minutes to a few hours. I just take it down whenever I feel like messing with it. That turban really will stay put. :o)

TheMagpieRoost: "It's probably some sort of science something" <---lmao, You are AWESOME! I giggled. Thanks for the vid, much clearer than reading instructions!

okkidigatto1083: This video is very useful ;) thank u

xXTawnieNationXx: In your opinion do you think that the tshirt causes less breakage and straighter drying? I have super curly hair and am looking for a way to straighten it out without a flat iron sometimes as they cause so much damage. Any tips or could you direct me somewhere to get tips?

torrinpaige: Most of us seem to measure from the front of the hairline, up over our heads and down to the tips. Those are our longest hairs after all. :o)

torrinpaige: You can leave it up for as long as you like. How long do you usually leave your hair in a towel? It's the same thing, just a different fabrication.

torrinpaige: Yay! I'm glad you liked it. I hope it helps you and your blog. :oD

emilyXoutrage: i always get out of the shower, squeegee out the excess then let it hang down my back. however ive noticed i get nasty tangles at my nape if i move around/ go outside whilst it is still wet... will this stop that?

torrinpaige: If I blow dry it? 15 minutes or less. If I let it air dry? A couple of hours. However, if I put it up while wet? It may still be damp after 14 hours or longer.

ebutuoy88: so this makes your hair dry faster than if you just left it out?

Miss A: I use one special towel, with a special material to dry my hair, I buy him in the chinese stores, maybe you can find in the 1 dollar store, to your hair can be really small but to a not so long hair, can be awesome. The towel has the shape of one tear and has a bottom behind, so you can use easily.

Caytlyn Rose: Yay, a use for the husbands old tshirts with holes in that I wont let him wear any more but he doesnt want to throw out...

ele_doodle: That's awesome! :)

Nick Son: i am off to find a suitable tshirt from my wardrobe. I guess cause your hair is super long you need a really long one, but my medium length hair should be ok with a regular t...i hope! thanks for sharing this tip!

torrinpaige: Sarongs! I never thought of that! Already large enough and no terry cloth. Good call, doll!

Lyn R: Great idea, will give it a go, if I find a spare t-shirt that doesn't get used. I just had a thought. You could use an interlock nightshirt. Exactly the same result without seeing extra length on. Now I am sure, I would have an old, skinny days, nightie, in the drawer. Thanks. Interlock, is the fabric used to make t-shirts. A poly cotton interlock fabric. So keep a lookout at a cheap shops, if you don't have one that is no longer used in the drawer. One greatly reduced because it isn't a great moving line. You get the idea.

torrinpaige: Less breakage, yes. Straighter drying? I don't really know. Being as mine is only wavy I don't know that it makes a huge difference. It seems mine may be less wavy, but I'm not certain. When I want mine straight, I blow it dry and can get it fairly straight. I don't know of any way to make curly hair straight without a flat iron or chemical straightening.

Naomi Tayler: Maybe it's because it's thin enough that once it's drawn the.water out of your hair it can start evaporating straight out? Justy a wild theory, I might be totally off the mark!

truepeacenik: Oh, one other option is flat weave Turkish towels or even sarongs. I've said au revoir to terry cloth.

Cherilyn H: Pretty much just 'plopping' your hair on top of your hair and 'plopping' a towel on top and pinning it in place.

Hockeymom #67: I've heard a T shirt material is better because it cause less frizz. Thank for sharing. FYI tip. Don't clean your ears with a q tip with a towel on. I did, and when the towel went to fall like you showed, I thought I had pulled the q tip out of my ear. Well I didn't, I caught the q tip in the palm of my hand as I was catching the towel. I am now permanently deaf in my ear so bad that they removed all the nerves, hearing bones, etc.

Dolphingirl7787: Can someone explain to me wat "plopping" is? It was mentioned in the video but i have never heard of it

torrinpaige: It might. Since it will all be up and contained, there will be no friction from your shirt. It's worth a try. If it's not to your liking, then just go back to what you were doing. :o)

mleung25: thanks so much for your reply!

torrinpaige: Yes, we re-did the bathroom. LOL. :o)

torrinpaige: A Turby Twist? I have one, but I have three feet of hair that it won't handle, so this is a better solution for me. :o)

ele_doodle: Torrin are you married or dating? I just am curious! :) Love your hair btw! :D

Ayesha Arshad: so long hairs mashallah

Mary: Can you do a video on how to grow hair long

torrinpaige: Aha! Science! See? That does make sense. I believe you are correct.

torrinpaige: Nope. I take Vitamin C and a one a day (when I remember) and that's it. I eat plenty of dairy, though, and think that's my secret. :o)

torrinpaige: In June, I'll have been married for 15 years. :o)

Dragon Mae Momma: Thank you for doing this. I may try it later. Hey can you sleep in it?

Heidi Lutz: 2:42

Abby Crews: Haha I just did this and probably not correctly bc I look like an Oompa Loompa

pirah sikandar: jut did it, but my hair length is longer than the t shirt:D

lauren britton: Not to T-shirts but rather two T-shirts. One after the other.

Lakeof Glass: Rhov! Hahaha. Interesting spotting you here. :D

Poppie-Amelia Freck: Sorry that posted before I had finished! As I seem

Ana Fernandez: This video made no sense
