The Bowl Method And Plopping - For Defined, Hydrated Curls!

Welcome to my curly hair journey! The bowl method? #plopping? I had no idea these methods of enhancing curls even existed up until a couple of months ago! I had my hair long and curly when I was MUCH younger, but since I’ve been growing out my hair from a short pixie cut over the last year, and embracing my #curlyhair - I’ve been discovering all kinds of new (for me) #curlygirl techniques!

Hello: everyone, i'm carrie lou and welcome to silver style studio. Today i want to talk to you about the bow method for curly hair. The bone method is a way of conditioning and hydrating curly hair after you've, shampooed it and before you've styled it. I'Ve done this. A couple of times, i'm kind of a newbie at this, because my hair has been growing out over the last year, and i found that there are so many methods to dealing with curly hair that i did not know about. My hair was curly about 20 years ago. I had it long and curly and then i've had it short i've had it straight spiky, you name it. It'S gone through quite a process, so i've been having fun catching up on all these new things out there. Like you, i watch youtube videos and i found this bowl method very interesting. Everyone seems to do it a slightly different way and i found a way that works for me and it's really keeping my hair hydrated conditioned it's helping the shine, it's helping the definition and it's cutting down on frizz. So, as the name implies, all you need is a bowl in this video i'm going to be using a glass bowl, so you can actually see what's happening with my hair. You can see through the glass bowl but don't use a glass bowl in your shower because it might break i'm actually doing this process. On the studio floor, i have a drop cloth down, so i don't get too messy, but you can do this in your shower or in your bathtub before i get into the demonstration i know i have been talking to you in previous videos about my upcoming haircut. Well believe it or not, this is it. I know a lot of you may be expecting that i had it cut super short or done something totally different with it. I kind of asked my hair stylist, the impossible. I told him i like to wear it blown out. Sometimes i like to wear it curly. Sometimes i just want it trimmed and healthy. I like to wear it in a ponytail, so i was giving him a lot of information and he actually did deliver. He he's a fantastic haircutter and he gave me something that could do all those things i can still wear it in a ponytail. I can wear it curly, i can have it blown out and he reshaped it and made it a lot healthier. So i do want to keep it a little longish like this, but just know that even if you're growing out your hair, you still do need a shaping and a trim once in a while. It will make it look so much better. So, let's get into the demonstration hey, so i just got out the shower. My hair is all drippy wet. It has some conditioner left in it. What i did was, i conditioned it really well, and i did let a little water run through it. Although i didn't rinse out the conditioner, so it's still in there saturating and hydrating my hair, it feels really good and squishy when you run your fingers through it, it squishes and it makes the sound of like wet seaweed, which is really good. So let me show you how i do this bowl method for curly hair. Okay. So let me take this off and show you how i hydrate my hair with this bowl method. Now i didn't invent this. Of course, i've seen it several times on youtube and everyone seems to do it a different way because, let's face it, our hair is different. My hair is very fragile um as you get older, it gets a little thin, so older curly hair is a little bit different too. Definitely when my hair was young, it was very thick and curly and lustrous, and now it needs more hydrating. So i'm going to put in some leave-in conditioner, the nozzle got all plugged up. Well, it's making it go all over the place, but i would say about a tablespoon of this and i'm going to squish it into my hair. You hear that that's how it should sound when your hair is nice and hydrated. Okay, so here goes now. You of course, will be doing this in your bathroom, hopefully in the shower, and you can use a plastic bowl just you know: a dollar store plastic bowl. Nothing fancy but i'm using this um glass bowl, so you can see what's happening with my hair and with the water. So i'm simply going to dunk my hair. I'Ve got about three inches of water there straight down. So here goes i'm kind of new at this, but i did it a couple of times and it's been working out really well and now i'm squishing all that water, it's got conditioner in it. It'S like a milky color now it feels really good actually and you can get the sides too, i'm making a mess here. I have a drop cloth on on my floor. Okay here goes. This is really strange. Doing it on camera, whoa nobody's face, looks good upside down. So sorry, if i'm scaring you now, let's try the other side. Here we go whoa. I wonder if you couldn't see my hair while swishing around in there in the conditioner water. This really helps the conditioner get everywhere, because when you condition your hair in the normal way in the shower, sometimes you miss some strands, so i'm getting the back because sometimes we tend to forget the back of the hair. With this method, let's see squish squish squish. Okay, so squish out the water. Now you you can just um, leave it there and put the gel in as you normally do, or you can put some hair gel in now, which worked pretty well for me. The last time i did it. I'Ve got lots of hair coming out because i tend when i wear my hair curly. I tend not to brush or comb my hair during the week and we lose about 50 to 100 hairs per day. So if you do see some hair coming out on wash day and you haven't combed your hair in a while - that's why you're getting them all at once. So i'm squishing this gel into my hands and now i'm putting it in my hair squishing it into the ends. Now, for me, i find that, if i put it too close to my root, it tends to look thin because i get a lot of then you get a lot of separation at the root. So if you have thin hair, you might not want to put quite as much gel in your scalp by your scalp okay. I will put some gel in later too, but that's enough for now. So let me do a little bit more dunking. Here we go whoops! Okay, so my hair in i think so this is going to be a lot easier when you're doing it in your shower or your bathtub. Even but don't use a glass bowl in your bathroom because it might break you don't want to put glass in your shower. Just use a plastic one: okay, let's give it a little bit more so now this is a delicious mix of conditioner and gel. I kind of feel like it needs a bit more gel. This one is called uh, not your mother's curl talk sculpting gel. So a bit more in the ends, i always get a bit frizzy around the front of my hair, squish squish, and you know i think, i'm not going to dunk again. I think i'm just going to leave that gel and see how that looks, and now i'm going to use the plopping method to dry my hair okay. So i just showed you the bowl method for hydrating conditioning your hair and, i did add, um a little hair. Gel for the final step of that now, i'm going to show you how i pull up my hair. Now this is uh. This has been done for a few years on youtube, i'm a little slow to the game, because i only just grew out my curly hair. The last year, so i have some catching up to do and i think some of you may be in the same position that we were growing out our hair the last year and we're trying to experiment with all these new curly girl methods. Now so let me show you what i've been doing for the last couple of weeks, you're going to need a t-shirt, i'm using this one, it's a men's large. It'S a hanes, men's large, very basic shirt. Mine has long sleeves because i thought it might be useful. You'Ll see when i tie it up um, but i would actually get a smaller size. I think you'll be okay with a men's small or a men's medium. Even this is a large and i'll definitely be ordering i'll order a medium and see how that goes anyway. So let me show you how to do this, how i do it there's people, do it different ways? Okay, so i spread the t-shirt on. You can do it on your mattress. I'M doing this on my floor and um. The arms are away from you and the bottom of the shirt is towards you. So imagine the shirt into thirds. I'M going to plop my head on the middle third of the shirt and you're going to see that it will um press my curls upward, so they're going to stay nice and bouncy, hopefully, as my hair dries now. If your hair has dried a little bit, you can re-mist it so that you get these nice thick. Well, all the girls are calling them clumps, and i really hate that word. I'M going to call them locks. Locks of hair sounds more rapunzel-like right, but you will hear them referred to as clumps and apparently that's a good thing having nice big, clumps, okay. So here we go lower it right here. So it's like an accordion you're kind of making an accordion out of your curls. I'M i'm rolling up this part because that's going to sit on my forehead and i'm pulling this around my ears. Now i don't want this to be on my hair, because otherwise i'm going to flatten my hair too much, then i take the neck part and i'm rolling it just a little bit because the shirt's too big taking it around the back of my head. I just had to reframe there for a second, so you can see me and then i'm going to tie a knot, just a single knot right here, i'm not looking in a mirror. So i'm just feeling my way and then i'm just kind of twisting this around and taking it low down again. I don't want to put it up here because i'll crush my curls as they dry and i like to just continue to tuck. That feels really secure. Actually, oh, i don't have any makeup on today, a little scary being in front of you all with no makeup whatsoever. My freshly washed face. Oh well, um. So from from this stage, you can sit with this. Some people do it overnight. I don't like to do it overnight. What i usually do is i let this sit for. However, much time you have, if you're doing a little housework or you're doing some computer work, keep it like this for two three hours. It'S a great way to blot out extra moisture before you use a diffuser on your hair or you can take it down and just let it air dry. So today, because i'm very busy i have to go to a dermatologist and have some little things cut off. My face, so i don't have much time today, so i'm going to just have this dry for about um an hour then defuse it go to my doctor's appointment, um and then i'll get back to you see you later. So this is the result, bouncing well-defined curls. I'M very happy with the result. It does come out a little bit different every time everyone is going to have a different way of doing this. Some people are going to use more gel. Some people like a firmer gel the gel i'm using today, is not your mother's curl talk and it does give a flexible but firm hold. But as you see, it's not like a wet look so after you saw me with my hair wrapped, it was in that turban looking thing for about an hour, because i was doing things i was online writing emails, so you can do whatever you like when your Hair'S, wrapped up that way, you can do your makeup and dress. Then i diffused it using my dyson hairdryer, which has a diffuser nozzle to it. I will show you that, in an upcoming video, how how i'm diffusing my hair at this length, all the products i've used in this video are listed in the comment section below the comments. Section is a friendly kind of place where we can all meet and we can share any information that you have. I don't know everything there is to know about this curly hair process, like i said, i'm learning a lot of these things too. So if you have any good information that you would like to share about your curly hair things that are working for you by all means, let me know in the comments below if you like this video, please give me a thumbs up and don't forget to subscribe. I'Ll see you next time, cheerio hey guys, so it's been about 14 months since i've had this haircut - and here i am today at the new salon and mark is going to. I told mark that i needed a cut. That would be good for curly hair and would also work for when i wanted it blown out. I explained that i love wearing my hair back in a ponytail, so i wanted to keep the length if possible, i do love getting a professional blowout. The end result was beautiful, healthy, looking hair, that's a lot easier for me to style. Thanks mark you

Kristina and the German: As a curly girl in her mid-fifties, I proclaim you a goddess, mentor, and guru!!! You, Kerry Lou, are beauty exemplified! You age with a grace and decorum to which I aspire. Peace to you, lovely lady. Keep inspiring us!

Joyce Sandusky: Your hair looks fabulous and so healthy. I’m just jumping on the “be curly” train after fighting my curls for 60 years.

Glennie Junkin: Kerry Lou! We could be hair twins. I did the curly-girl method before it WAS a method. In addition to what you're doing, for some reason I find my curls are better when I rinse my hair in cool water. The colder the better. Maybe it closes the cuticle down a bit? Thanks for sharing yourself with us. You are gorgeous and an inspiration.

Lisa Rose: 13:51- I actually think you look lovely in this video without makeup, I think you have a sparkling presence which shines through, makeup or not! Thank you for putting this together. My hair is very curly and I straighten it all the time, because I get frustrated with the frizzzzz.

Barbara Asaro: I have curly hair and I'm going to try this method with the products you recommend, although I may have to modify it. I'm in admiration of your flexibility!

Alisha Bonk: I absolutely loved the casual, sitting on the floor together vibe of this video! Good info too! As usual, you look gorgeous.

Reviewer's Diary / Mary: I grew my hair out a couple years ago - I guess I've been totally natural now for about 2 years. I've had seriously mixed feelings about my white hair, but your video made me feel like my wavy locks may be helped by the methods you show. Thanks so much for haring this!

Veronica Brandolino: Omgoodness what we as women go through to be beautiful! You are so down to earth! Love you! You are gorgeous, make up or not!

Floridagal: My latest curly hair adventure has been learning about protein/moisture balance. I’m a little science averse so I just decided to do a protein treatment to see how my hair liked it. The results were fabulous! My curls came to life like never before. There are lots of good YouTube videos about protein treatments and products. Sorry I waited so long to investigate!

AnnaKatrina: Bravo to you!! This has been a delight to watch, and I cannot wait to try!! You are so brave and generous in your efforts to show us new things!

dos dandelions: You look stunning with curly hair. It truly becomes you!

Ellen Malcolmson: This is such an inspiring video! I’ve been in lockdown here in Toronto for months and have starting wearing my hair curly because it’s impossible to do anything else with it. I will definitely try this out as my curls aren’t as even or defined as I would like I am sure that this will help. Thanks so much

TheSBfletch: Beautiful outcome, I love the swishy look of your healthy, curly locks. Thank you for all your prep work to make this informative video. You’re the best beauty instructor!

BerlinBeach Kat: WOW, you have to take a lot of steps with your hair. That’s why it looks so healthy. Kerry, thanks for adding your visit with Mark to this video. I had asked for it at one time.

Linda Marocco: Your hair looks absolutely stunning!!!... he did an amazing job!... love it!!!

Nancy Warner: ❤ I think I’m going to try this. In the past when I’d just let it dry naturally, I was nothing but frizz. I hope I have better luck with your way, thanks for sharing❣️

Eileen Cukierski: Your hair is beautiful straight or curly. A great length as well...so many options for styling!

Karen Coughlin: Thanks for this video. Curly hair is challenging at times. New tips and tricks are always welcome.

Kare Armstrong: Loving your curly hair Journey. I have started growing out my hair again I'm ready to go back to my curls. Thank you so much for sharing these

Dili Hopa: This is very helpful for women with grey hair! My hair is very curly and "wirey" underneath and the top section tends to be straighter. Ugh! I will try your method tomorrow. Thank you.

MaryBeth Richmond: I love your videos. I feel as young on the outside as I do on the inside. Thank you so much. I am growing out a curly pixie that I have because I am embracing my gray hair. You were my inspiration for just cutting it off as an option to get to that gray faster. I am a huge proponent of the curly girl method. It brings out my curls so well. My curly mohawk was fabulous and somewhat edgy. I could style it with a healthy dose of gel and air dry it or use a diffuser (I am not one to spend a lot of time with my hair). I want something softer now that does not scream "old lady" so I am slowly growing it out. I LOVE how your hair looks and it has the same kind of curl that mine does. Here's the big question. Do your curls fall naturally the way we see on video, or do you have to do a lot of work with a curling iron to get it look so lovely. I imagine that it has to be just so for the camera, but I am hoping that I wouldn't have to spend a hour in front of the mirror trying to replicate it.

Tait Home: I am 72 and have very curly hair. I have worn it curly now for many yrs. Now turning grey and it is thiner I'm struggling with my hair routine to get away from the frizzes! I just discovered you on YouTube & loving your videos! P.S. I too, would get dizzy dipping my head in a bowl. Although what a great tip and your hair looks beautiful.

D Ebner: Yes! Me, too. I'm 56 yrs young. I started the wavy/curly journey about 1 1/2 yrs ago, too. My hair is almost halfway down by back, when dried. I haven't wore my hair this long since I was a kid. Today's washday was the best, so far!

Gina Kinard: I’ve heard of the bowl method but haven’t tried it. Thanks for sharing!! Your hair looks great!

Margaret DiMaria: @Kerry-Lou Thank you for sharing this. So much great curly hair videos out there but so FEW for GREY hair. And as you note, it IS different. Question…how many times a week do you do this? Where does this fall into, say, a week of hair care? I would love a video of you explaining you hair care schedule - from one wash day to the next. Thanks!

Dede Blakeney: Thank you Kerry-Lou. I've got my bowl ready to go. Lately it seems my hair is dry and brittle, and it looks it too.

barbara smith: Road testing this method today - thank you Kerry-Lou. If anyone had/has the same problem as I did - dripping wet hair from the bowl method and then trying to get yourself dry and dressed from the shower - I put my wet hair into a turbie twist for not even five minutes while I got dry/dressed before releasing and plopping. I put the turbie twist on the opposite way to how I would normally do it - the wide part to my upper forehead with head tipped forward so all hair to the front and twisting very gently at the nape of the neck, meaning no hair in the twisted section. Looking forward to seeing the results later today.

no name: I feel like I can do this now!! Thanks so much for this video. I live watching you.

Darcy Palmer: Love your new hair style. So pretty. A year or so ago I spent lots of time watching curly hair care YouTube videos. Some things work, some things don't ,but I sure learned a lot and I'm happy with my hair. Squish to condish! Yay for curly hair.

Meagan Geci: You are so fun! Thank you for the demonstration. I just had 10" of pandemic length cut off! I'll be trying this today.

MARY LYNN GOTTLER: My silver hair is a lot like yours in color and texture and I have just a bit of blond/gold to grow off on the ends here and there. Can’t wait for it to go! Loving the curly girl method and how healthy my hair feels now.

Acacia Maduro Hagen: As a silver-haired lady myself, I love to see your videos! You are so stylish, and spoke so nicely! I always learn something new, thank you.

Nicky Denning: Kerry-Lou please don't ever apologise for not having makeup on - you're gorgeous just the way you are. You could be makeup-less, face upside down AND wearing a potato sack & still look fabulous! I really love your channel, your way of presenting, your genuineness .. . I've taken the opportunity of the last 14 months to allow my own grey hair to run its course, thanks to your own journey and courage, so thank you. I don't have curls unfortunately (funny how we always want what we don't have!), but I do have a thick head of Salt and pepper hair now that I love. Blessings from Down Under ‍ ❤

Lori Orrick: I didn’t even realize my hair was curly. I grew my hair out and started to air dry it and poof, it’s curly again like when I was a child and I’m a few months away from 60….so I’m really new at this. By the way you’re a gorgeous lady and thanks for the informative video.

Vero Rg: Age is just a number... Here I am at 42.. Learning from a wiser (hate the word older) how to have beautyful curly hair just like her

Marie-Anne Neveu: I have the same curly hair as you, and have been letting it grow over a year now, I will try your method of drying my hair from now on....thank you for all your tips very helpful

Pam B: Your hair looks great both ways, curly or straight. I’m going to have my daughters look into this video. They both have super curly hair. Mine is just natural wavy not really curly. After watching this video, I’m going to let my hair grow out. It isn’t going to be easy, my hair is short now. But I’ve been wanting to let it grow. I hope I can make it. My hair has thinned a lot in the last few years. It used to be super thick and hot. But since it’s thinner I may be able to stand the sticking out all over. I can wear a hat. This was different from any videos I’ve seen. I never knew there was such a thing. It was interesting.

Bevmaybe: I can relate to you so much in this video! I have very similar hair...it's curly and gray. Over the last year, I let my hair grow out too. I've never allowed the curls to exist...have always had it straightened or I have blown it out straight. Letting my hair go curly is not something I know how to do....so thank you for this video. I'm going to give it a try. I need to update my photo that I have on here too. It was taken about 5 years ago when I colored and did keratin treatments on my hair!

T and Z Apt Life: Your hair is beautiful! I'm more of a 4A 4B curly girl, but the techniques look great! I'm going to try it

Jen Lambie: Wow Kerry-Lou what you do for us subs, thank you! I haven't had a professional haircut for about 18 months. Mine is really super short and I "attack" it with clippers for back and sides and scissors for the top with hand held mirror - every 3 weeks. I love yours blown out and curly and admit I have never heard the terms "bowl method" and "plopping" but it's a great result. Hope you and yours are well and happy

Bonnie Scheufele: I to have curly hair, I to have let mine grow out this last year. Some days I love my curls and other days I curse them. I am anxious to try this method. Thanks for all the contortations you put yourself through to demonstrate the bowl method. Any thoughts of going on to performance art? lol I do so appreciate your efforts.

helpfulnatural: Very helpful video! I use my husband's old cast off t-shirts for plopping. Lol! I ended up cutting off the sleeves, (they're size XL). I agree, I don't like the term 'clumps' either. I use the same curl gel, like it very much. Smells good too! :)

Belinda Cortez: I too have grown my wavy hair out during COVID. I love it and I also get the same feedback you do about how much my friends liked my shorter look. What your video has shown me that is different is using the t-shirt to set the curl. That will be my next trick and I do believe it will really enhance the curl before diffusing. You're beautiful with or without makeup and I do enjoy your videos. Thank you.

Thea: Hi Kerry Lou . I love your vids. I've always worn my hair naturally curly since I was young. My grey is all grown out now. It took about 2 years. Sooo happy I did it. I will be 66 in July. I just hated dealing with roots.lol. I will be trying this plopping technique . Thank you!! Thea

A Giles: Your silver curls are absolutely gorgeous. I think your cut and the method are perfect. After chemo my hair changed and became much more fine and much more wavy. I tried the “curly girl method” then, but then went to a blown out bob. With summer coming I am considering trying it again, possibly with a shorter cut, thinking I might have a better wave pattern. Thank you for excellent directions.

Teresa Burkett: I can’t wait to try this! I loved the way yours turned out!

Diane Leonar: You are beautiful with or without makeup! Thanks for the info. My hair is just like yours just a litter shorter! I’m growing it back out! ❤️

a: I recently realized I might have curly hair- and what do you know, curly girl methods have revealed I have some goldilocks going on. One side is still pretty flat, while the other curls up nicely. I'm going to try your method and see if I can get both sides to cooperate. I still sometimes feel I don't truly have curly hair, but I will get there!

Mary Jo Norum: Love your channel! Love that you show the real you, both with and without makeup. It shows that you are Velveteen

Barbara Bailey: I spent the first 55 years of my life fighting my natural curl. Once I learned how to deal with it and got the right products, I learned to love it! Then I stopped coloring my hair and I lost about 80% of the curl. Sometimes life is so unfair.

kChandler10: Thank you, Kerry! Your hair is lovely. Will try the technique with my curly hair.

Amber Wise: Kerry -Lou - I am transitioning to grey hair and have curly hair and your videos have been a blessing! Both inspiring and helpful!! Thank you so much! And BTW, you look lovely with a fresh clean face!

Pumpkin Pie: Keri Lou, could make a short video on how to draw a line on the upper eyes without your previous method of coloring in the upper water line ? I’m not a big fan of that method because it always transfers to my bottom water line making a mess of the look. I wear eyeglasses and use gel eyeliner ( which I ABSOLUTELY love ) as it doesn’t pull but the closer I get to my mirror the fuzzier my image gets

Alli Brown: KL, I just discovered your channel and appreciate your candid, no airs approach to beauty at a mature stage. I too have wavy curly hair naturally and the silver is resistant to retaining moisture and behaving. LOL Thank you for the video. I'm going to try the method and see if "plopping" works for me. Stay safe. Happy New Year!

Stacey Trewart: Wow what a fascinating video Kerry-Lou! Amazing to see the different ways you have cared for your hair and styled your curls over the last couple of videos!! Love it

kimc555: Your hair looks great. I’ve grown out all my silver and grey over the past 15mons or so. I cut it to a short layered Bob for the grey grow out. Now that I’ve only got about an inch of dye on the ends, I’m growing my length out.

Lorraine M: My hair is extremely curly but I've always blow dried it straight. After watching your videos with your beautiful curls I've decided to let my hair grow a bit and let my curls do their own thing. I'd always been worried I'd end up looking like Shirley Temple which is not a good look at my age (70) lol. But...I'll persevere and see what happens. Thanks so much for your lovely videos x

Heather Peet: I have new curls post-chemo. I have tried understanding this method and have heard so many phrases I’d never heard before! I didn’t know what glazing and roping and plopping, pixie diffusing, clumping, cast, halo frizz, or any of these words mean. Your video helped so much!! Thank you!

Kimberly Barrios: You are lovely without your makeup! Truly! Thank you for the demonstration and recommendations.

Mary-Lou W: Just found your videos and I am thrilled. You have my hair and I am growing it out now too! Please do lots more hair videos. I would love to see how you diffuse and so much more. Thanks for helping us curly silvers!

Karen S.: Great video! I’ve given up on plopping despite all the YouTube videos, but I think I can use my bathroom sink “bowl” after my shower. Your video today reminds me so much of how I need a trim. I’m going to take a still photo of you from the beginning of this video and tell my stylist “Gimme what Kerry Lou has.” I’m beginning to love my curls as this pandemic winds down, but I’m developing a love/hate relationship with my hair

Wilmatoday: Kerry Lou I love your channel I grew out a pixie 4 years ago and low and behold I have very natural wavy curly hair and I had to learn how to deal with it. Over time I have found the bowl method to be the best and I speed it up with adding conditioner and gel together in the bowl and then scrunch, scrunch, scrunch. I have a turban that I bought off of amazon that I wear when I plop and I am going to try wearing it longer when time permits. I like curl clumps sometimes and sometimes not and you are right its never the same twice. I use a Denman brush or a big tooth comb to form my hair curls before scrunching it all depends how I feel. My hair is about your length as well and I let my hair go natural gray many years ago.....I am 68 now.

Cathy L: I lost alot of my curls with age, menopause I guess, and have been trying every product out there to get them back. My hair became softer after I stopped coloring it meaning that it doesn't hold shape as well. I have an absolute arsenal of hair products but I have made a few discoveries along the way that seem to be working. The first is sticking to one product line at a time because they're formulated to work together and don't mix and match products. The second is watching your videos...I'll be damned, great tips and I've achieved better curls that actually hold without being crispy....I do need more practice though. Thanks so much!

Luz Soto: Your hair look beautiful. I’m on the road getting my hair gray and curly. You are an inspiration for me. Thank you for sharing this information; I will try this method.

Janice Hull: Very informative video. Thank you and your curly hair looks beautiful.

Sandy Phillips: Love the cut and style! Gorgeous

Celsa Flores: This is exactly why I cut my long, curly hair real short. Don’t want all this time wasted in caring for it. I’ve thought of letting it grow again, but believe me I’m happier this way

sherilynschneider: Your hair is so beautiful! Thank you for a great helpful video.

Lillian Lizardi: Merry Lou, I have salt and pepper hair, curly and wavy but I noticed that my gray has a tiny yellow tint to it, what you suggest I do. Love your videos, very well done and you take your time explaining how to make your hair healthy. Thank you ☺️

Margaret Andersen: I let my hair grow during the pandemic, and love my curls now. You look gorgeous with color hair. ❤️

Helena: Thank you for this! You look great! I would like to know how you keep your curls looking good all week of you only do this once a week? I am also a gray curly girl, but I need to rinse (not wash) my hair every day to get my curls re-defined. Otherwise I look like a troll ... I would love to see a video with your hairstyling for each day between washes! Can you please make one? Thanks again! :)

Ollie Renee' Lovelace (Country Gal): Your hair is beautiful and so are you,! I just love watching your videos. Thanks for all the help! Xo xo

Linda Rivera: Thank you for this video you are an absolutely beautiful and classy lady!!! I was going to cut off all of my hair....I think you just changed my mind! Thanks!

Carol A: Your hair looks amazing...I am glad (but it's your hair) that you only got it trimmed. I like the convenience of having my hair a bit longer, too. Who would think that doing curly hair would be such a workout!!! LOL!!! I beg to differ...you still look pretty upside down sans makeup! I just did the "bowl" technique, and I am sitting here with a turban made from T-shirt material on my head. I will let you know it it turns out after I try it a few times. And, the blouse and kimono...they are not beautiful...they are breathtaking. So elegant and classy...just gorgeous. Take care, Carol. :-)

Jean Jacobs: Greetings KerryLou! I too just had my curly hair cut, maybe a couple of inches shorter than yours! I've never tried this method. Looks very interesting. I wonder if it would make my fine hair flat though... Love and blessings ❤

Racheliza: I adore curly hair but I won’t lie, quite relieved not to have it now I loved watching this hair care/ yoga , I’m sure the inversions are great for skin and hair. Wow it looks so beautiful. Think the hair wrap idea is brilliant. Thank you xx

Barbara O: Yes, I was expecting a short hairdo when you mentioned your hair appointment in your last video. Actually your hair looks awesome whether it's short or long! Until next time...

Catherine Phillips: You’re gorgeous and so much more flexible than me - I think I would fall right into the bowl I have naturally straight grey hair- your hair journey inspired me to have a perm (didn’t even realise that they still did them). Unfortunately it is not as successful as natural curls and I think I’m ready to go but to my normal straight pixie cut…it’s been fun though and I might try this method before I give up.

Karin McCarty: I appreciate very much what you are teaching. Thank you.❤❤

Lori Skillman: My hair is fine, gray and the length of yours. You got just enough cut so the curls bounce back. Mine is top heavy, once I get a layer or 2, I'll play more. I love Not Your Mother's curl talk. You look awesome!

Diane Sanford: Thanks for sharing this method. It’s is new to me so I am appreciative of your video. You are stunning with it without makeup.

Sharon Tate: Your hair is beautiful and really suits you immensely, you look beautiful as always. I have been growing my grey hair out since the pandemic started and I love the colour which is similar to yours.

S Z: This is my favourite curly girl video ever!

Carol D Maner: I love your videos, thank you so much ❣

Gayle Ritter: Oh, Kerry Lou, your hair looks gorgeous, soft corkscrew curls that look so springy. Enviable!

Kathleen Shaver: Thank you for sharing! How do you keep your hair looking good until the next wash?

Susan Zimnick: Kerry Lou, as you let your hair grow out, what do you ask for when you get trims? What type of shape do you ask for? Your hair looks great.

Linda Russ: Great demo! There is no way I can get in these positions, but I will use some of your ideas to do a conditioning treatment.

Jojo Jojo1: Omg, this video is so fun to watch! I love you Kerry lou

Linda Marocco: He gave you a fabulous haircut!!!!!... your hair looks amazing!... Thank you so much for such an informative video!!!!... much love and appreciation!!!!

Virginia Brayton: I do not have curly hair but I find it fascinating to watch the great lengths one has to go to to care for curly hair. I think you look gorgeous, and I mean gorgeous, with blown out hair or your natural curls. You must have great core strength in order to make this video. Amazing. You look wonderful without makeup. No need at all to apologize. But I do understand how you feel. It can be a vulnerable feeling sans makeup. You are lovely with or without makeup. A very fun video. I wonder what girls/women did for their curly hair when I was a child. I don't think they had all these products and methods. So very interesting. You are so sweet. ❤

Barbara Whatley: Love your hair…. Mine is similar. Exactly how long is your hair wet? Also, how layered is it? Layered throughout? How long are bangs? Sorry for asking so much, but it really would be helpful to know this information. Thanks so much for all you do …. so informative and helpful!!!

jessica naan: Ok, there are lots & lots of reasons Not to try this bowl method. All of them for safety reasons. You can achieve the same results without risking an injury.. this is just plain silly. That being said, your hair looks great.

Sameena Niazi: Love the way you explain . Will try the Bowl method .

sarah95958: Such a great result today from using this method, thank you so much for sharing this. All your hair needs is water!

Maria H: Beautiful! You are not scary looking at all, Kerry-Lou. I like when you winked at the camera during your hair trim. ;-) I have used Quidad products for years for my curls. My two favorite products are: Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel and (for in between shampoos)...Botanical Boost Curl Energizing & Refreshing Spray. Hope you have a great weekend! XO

Elizabeth Sleison: Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your demonstration. You are most kind. I get it, and will try this. As we share information and educate one another, we move others to share educate as well. Makes for a nice world.

Sharon Buffett: I love your curly hair - looks great

TheGalwayfan: I love your haircut! I wouldn't cut it all off after it grew out so nicely. It looks pretty worn up like your holiday video too. Beautiful as always. You're making me reconsider my pixie cut

Josephine Rodriguez: I feel that this method would require my being a contortionist and I don’t think at my age in the 70s I can feel safe doing your method to style my hair.I’m sure I can find a safer way to do my hair like yours. Thanks anyway
