Black Girl Gets Long Hair Done In Korea | Shocking Results!

BLACK GIRL GETS HAIR DONE IN KOREA

In this video, I, a black girl, get my hair done in Korea. I am surprised at the hip length/ waist length natural hair and that I am getting my hair done in South Korea. The Korean hairstylists' reaction to my hair was priceless! lol

The inspiration for this video came from Chilo Talks who lives in Japan and MaryJane Byram who lived in China but is now a world traveler.

I haven't been to a salon in about 3 years due to some hair horror stories but I am excited to get my hair done in Korea and try out the salon again especially in a different country. Normally being black in Korea, or any country in Asia like China or Japan, finding a place to get natural hair done is like finding a needle in a haystack. Therefore, I decided to do an experiment! Especially since this salon is one of the best reviewed salons in South Korea, so I am excited to see what they can do with my long natural 4c hair. The results were shocking and not the transformation I expected. I hope you watch and enjoy it until the end!

Sidenote: This hairstylist's salon is located 3 hours outside of Seoul at the bottom tip of Korea in an amazing city called Gwangju, also known as one the cities where democracy was birthed in Korea as well as the birthplace of BTS's Jhope lol. Korea Vlog of my time there to come out soon!

My hair., The stylist, did an amazing job with the tools that they were given.. The only thing is, you know, my hair just loves some good old-fashioned water and it just ate all the humidity and the moisture in the air.. But that's not something that I could control.. So more of the story. Don'T get your hair straightened in the summer., Especially in a city that is known for humidity., That's where it went wrong. But overall, 10 out of 10 definitely recommend. DT: Can we also talk about how kind, polite, and understanding this woman is? She's aware of the culture barrier and so understanding towards them for not having the experience and the right tools for her hair type. I probably wouldn't brush her hair like that, but she took it like a champ and was so understanding. Props to the hair stylist for not rejecting her and doing a great job and props to her for her beautiful personality

Purrfect Nails: I can tell he was having a really good time perfecting your hair. He loved the challenge and personally I give it a 10/10!

Jada M88: First of all, you are adorable, second of all, I've been there...getting my hair done in Koreatown where most hairdressers actually DO know how to straighten any type of hair. Any salon that is hesitant and bemoans your hair type, makes excuses etc, then they haven't got the necessary experience with our hair type, and that says more about them than about us. Go to another salon. I once had three Korean stylists work on my hair at the same time in a salon, they knew exactly what to do, they were quick and my hair was straighter than straight and shiny. They welcomed me. Understood my hair and didn't hurt my head. Thirdly, WE have the best hair on the planet! So stop apologizing as though your hair in their salon is an inconvenience. You are undermining your beautiful crown that is unlike any other group's hair, thank goodness for that. We can style our hair in any way, not everyone can say the same. Lastly, ALWAYS tell stylists when they are hurting your scalp when combing or whatever! Never let anyone hurt your head, it's not normal regardless if they are white, black or asian. The hair and the head are the crown jewel and should be respected. Walk into every salon with your head held high, and expect professionalism and excellence.

NeroMai: The fact that you sat through that hair combing without getting teary eyed

MaryNana Gwann: I am just glad that he didn’t try to cut it off or stick chemicals in it to make it thinner. Your hair looks healthy! Definitely keep going back to this guy because you can tell her only get better with time.

Strawberry cheesecake: The editing is hilarious. Props to you for going, being polite and letting them learn and for them for being open to something new.

Jessie Gilbert: Especially considering he said at the beginning that he hasn’t really had the chance to work with hair like yours, he did an amazing job! I also noticed how careful they were with the flat irons, they were really doing everything they could to make sure they didn’t hurt your hair! Hugs if you want one!

Marie Perpétue Moncoeur: The combing was the worst I’ve ever seen; you probably lost a lot of hair. But the final result was amazing… I’m glad you didn’t let them trim your hair… they’re not ready.

edith Art: I think he enjoyed the process which is why he didn't want to leave, he took the challenge and did it, now he can add this to his portfolio. You gave him a gift by allowing him to do your hair.

April Clark: I’m proud of her and everyone involved that’s not easy

E Smith: If we who have this hair are constantly amazed by how the disulfide bonds can hide true length, I can't imagine how bystanders feel who have never seen the magic trick. I'm sure the staff were all amazed by your hair and what it can do.

Sleipnirseight: Omg when you took your braids out at the start, I immediately gasped at how pretty your hair is!!

Crystal Fowler: When I was in the military, I loved getting my hait done in Seoul, RoK. There's a lot of them that know how to treat, style, and manage black hair. As a mattet of fact, some of them have lived in the U.S. and learned. They always made me feel good when I came through the door and would throw in a neck massage while you're getting your hair done, shout to Ms. Connie in Seoul if she's still living.....this was in the 90s

Sharious2010: He was proud of his work! Keep going to him, he'll get better with time

April Flower: Girl, you genuinely seem like the sweetest person ever, as a fellow curly I understand the pain but I’m so glad it worked out for you!

Chogiwa Yehet Ohorat: He did a beautiful job on your crown, Queen.❤️

Dawn Dais: Honestly, he did a better job than some black hair salons I've been to AND he stayed with her instead of trying to do both clients at once. Real talk, all black haircare salons are not created equal. Applause all around!

Raven Lemon: He actually did a great job! It’s not bone straight but you know it won’t be heat damage

Marigou: You're so strong for holding back those tears, I would've been crying rivers with the way he was detangling your hair from the roots down

FackingPREP: For never having experience with your type of hair they did a great job! Keep going back to him and he will only get better! ❤️ Also please don't be afraid to say that they're being too rough!

s7steele87: He did an beautiful job. I love how patient he was and wanted it to be to perfection. His willingness to do all that hair was exceptional. GREAT JOB MICHAEL!

Amy Ratcliff: I enjoyed watching this & I understand the struggle sometimes I don't even wanna do my own hair because it's so much yet so beautiful when you take care of it. Respect to those gentlemen & you look great. ✊

Shona Lovely: I would have detangled first before going. I'm proud of them for accepting the challenge!

Ellena J: I think its a good trait for a hairdresser to realize they cannot handle certain tasks and be up front about it as opposed to just winging it and making a mess. He did great though!

My Life His Way: I’m an retired hair dresser myself for 13 years & he did do a great job being that this was his first time but I wouldn’t go back because there is so much importance in natural hair care. I just started locs after being natural since 2011. It’s a lot of up keep for long natural hair. But kudos for you my beauty & the stylist who did you hair

Stella Nana: Girl you are so sweet and hilarious! I kept laughing as I went a couple times through the same thing/adventure. Scarring stylists away with so much hair... crying internal tears while... then feeling sorry for taking so much time but the result makes you forget all that at the end

Tori broussard: Omg, bless their hearts ❤️ I had a similar experience in Thailand getting my hair done. They were up for the challenge.

Apryll Wil: I enjoyed watching this. Kudos to him for doing your hair so well. Time to learn how to do our hair all stylists! We out here and our hair is amazing+ knowing the right technique to do our hair raises your portfolio too

Nautia Septimus: She is the ABSOLUTE cutest when she says "I'm sorry, do you have another customer? I'm sorry." Those eyes! What a doll.

PhreakTweek: This is so cool to watch! I have worked in salons and had clients like yourself come through and it’s always been one person! To have that many people work through (well it explains why it’s not a whole day affair!) but that is a great job for first time trying, I remember my first attempt on 4C hair, she came back to me later that day because it had reverted ‍♀️but all we can do is try! And get better

naturalgirly43: Love the editing. You are brave I would not have gone through with it. I can’t stand getting my hair done from people that don’t know how to work with long, thick natural hair!

Regina Lahab: Your hair is hair goals for me! Even right after you took it down before you went into the salon it looked beautiful. Your hair has length, it's thick AND it is obviously healthy.

Precious Young-Patterson: Always glad when I see new experiences go well for all involved.

Feminine Beauti: Girl he could not stop running his fingers through your hair. That count of how many time he ran that flat iron to your roots was hilarious lol. Thay did an amazing job

Farita Toney: You look great! This was brave on both ends

Above the Average: You can tell he’s so proud. He should be! Her hair looks awesome❤️

Seline Dorima: I used to go to this Korean hair salon when I was younger and I was surprised how well they actually knew how to do a nice silk press. I went to the same guy every time and he was so gentle with my hair too! Until one day I went when he wasn't there... two ladies washed my hair and didn't even dry it, they went straight into flat ironing my hair WET. My mom never took me back there again.

Marisol Santiago: Your hair is gorgeous! They did an excellent job. DON'T CUT IT!

Ms. Mommie: Sis they will talk about doing your hair for years to come!! So beautiful.

Philippa Hodge: Found your channel! Michael is a legend! Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sure it'll help many foreigners living/traveling through SK :) I lived in Gwangju for two years Michael always made me feel so pampered ...I have the opposite hair to you though fine and straight and that was also different for him but he took it in his stride, always kind and supportive. He really does go the extra mile worth the spend. Wish you both well from South Africa:)

E D I T I O N 3 3: Your hair is GORGEOUS!!! He did a good job, but just your hair growing out of your scalp is GORGEOUS!!! ❤️

stayracha: I didn’t except it to actually turn out nicely. He did an amazing job, applause to Micheal.

Deanna Troy: I love your natural curls!! They suit you so well

Melanie Pizarro: I’m praying your hair doesn’t get heat damaged easily because Chile the amount of passes has me scared for you ❤️

Sacha Ehn: I love your hair. It's gorgeous! You must get tons of compliments on it!

MichIsMellow: you've got a great sense of humour loved your editing

LittleMissMøcha: That’s honestly so amazing he did a great job

Fortnite Compilations: I have tailbone-length 4b/4c hair and straighten my hair in the summer and it lasts about a week before it needs a root touchup. I use my Rev-Air and Bablyliss Nano Titanium and I can get it bone straight in less than 2 hours. Best hair tool investment I've made. They charge me $125 min. to straighten my hair bc most stylist go by length so the Rev-Air paid for itself in less than 3months.

Y’all should be ashamed: This korean man did such a great job! He’s probably only ever done straight hair before and did this amazing of a job with patience. But ALOT of white salons in America refuse to even touch black hair. Wtf

Sam: Your hair is so beautiful! Props to the guy who did your hair! Did a fantastic job

Babymamhu: Your hair is gorgeous, and I'd do your hair in a heartbeat ❤ it's so sad to hear someone say your hair is 'too much'. I understand that it does take a long time to do, but it's a part of you, man... Anyways, they did do great, it looks super cute! So glad they didn't turn you away.

Browneyemixedbeauty: He did a great job, thank you for sharing. I’m a mixed chick with thick curly hair with two curl pattern. I know how it feels, how straighten hair can take long. Overall, it looks fantastic.

Sarah Hassan: Thank you so much for posting this! I have been wanting to get my hair cut and I heard about his salon before, but I've been nervous to let anyone in Korea touch my hair.

KMA: Your politeness was the best part. Some would've been bitching as if the hairdresser is the problem. You made me feel very proud my dear and your hair is lovely.

the animator girl: Lol sis your editing is hilarious and your hair is amazing , keep slaying!

sнᴀʟιɴι.. simply_fan: This is my first time, I am watching your video . It is really very good . Your hair is same like me. Thumbs up to the great salon. And I like your cute hairstyle also . Loves from Malaysia .

Shannon Loerzel: The hair looks so good at the end! It looks healthy and soft :>

Marsha Gonzales: You are hilarious love your energy!!! GOD bless you!!!

Monii Lainz Thangz: As a retired stylist, I think he was descent for his first time. Keep going so he can get used to your hair.

A Name: You are so brave i went to an Asian salon once and the way they detangled my hair made me want to cry, looking back i wish i would’ve taken the comb away from them because my hair is only wavy idk why they were so rough. Idk how you made it through that.

Brooke Smiley: I’m a hairstylist/barber and could love to attempt your type of hair. I just don’t want a time limit and feel rushed

Teshai Oketch: Just finding out about this channel and you’re sweet and hilarious as hell. As a black girl living in Busan South Korea I wouldn’t even dare try this I enjoyed this video so much !

AllthewayNatural: Your hair is absolutely beautiful ! Love your length. He did an awesome job on your hair. I know the struggle all too well with natural hair.

Onya: I’d totally do your hair. I’m already planning the strangling process!!

A.F.D -: Eu queria ter meu cabelo assim,eu pintaria de um branco,e faria um penteado imitando nuvens fofas ,fica tão lindo

G O: Beautiful! Your hair looks really pretty. It looks really soft and silky. ❤️

chbutterfly33: Your video was everything!!! Yes they did an amazing job especially while having limited knowledge of dealing with 4C hair!!! Kudos for exceeding the expectation in this challenge lol

youdrinkpissywissy: Girl you made the black tender headed community proud, as a person who is black and also tender headed ur a warrior.

Kwisten Potato: Omg i didnt think your hair would be that long! I love long hair and i just WOW your hair is beautiful ❤️

Hoop Jeanne: Wow, you’re hair was gorgeous before you got it done and after!

Sasha Massey: Wow, I would have stopped them and showed them how to detangle from the ends and clip each section out of the way as they went. You're brave. Glad you found a stylist. They have a lot to learn.

Maria Dent-Turner: First of all, I love this video. Kerra, you knew you was going to give him the challenge of his lifetime! Of course, he was going to put that up on the gram. Second, girl, you know we have a hard time with our own hair, and yours is so long. So, $200 for a wash and blow dry? Whoa, a lot man! I wouldn't have turned you away, though, but whoa! Lol! I was in Incheon one summer, so, I get it. Try Bantau knots with setting gel and oil. Let it dry thoroughly before you wear it out for a day or two on a special occasion. After that it may get too frizzy. With your length you can wear box braids and look cute. Curl the ends with perm rods. Have someone send you Shea Moisture products. It'll take a couple of months or try Amazon. Best wishes!

Moira Majaha: Props to ya'll gals in Asia having confidence to go to local salons.

Roselyn Watson: Excellent job. Especially it being his first time. You both were so patient ❤️

prasanjani weerasinghe: Girl i love your hair! Before and after! Both the styles suits you well! Also hairdresser did a great job! Keep visiting him he will eventually be the best! Love you!

Sara Marie: He did a good job and I’m glad you ventured out to let him have this experience with your hair type. It will only allow for stylists to grow more in their work.

Icegold: When I lived in Brooklyn New York I used to go to a Korean hair salon for aroma therapy hair treatments and they always did a great job on my hair it was silky and smelled great for weeks plus my hair would grow with them.

Tiffany Ann: Her personality is so kind and caring. It made me smile when she was sitting there like a champ just there for the ride. The way she cheered the younger stylist on was applause worthy. I wish more people were like her.

Starr Jasmine: This experience is gonna make him do more research so he can master it lol if I was him that’s why I’d do lol I honestly thought he was gonna give up glad he didn’t

GG Brown: You’re such a sweetheart. I would of been correcting him the entire time. Like “Detangle from the ends”. “No more than two passes”. “Section the hair “. But he did good with the finish results. Your hair is beautiful!

Loretta Lentz: I love your type of hair. So thick and beautiful. When it went natural I fell in love . I wanted to cry with the detangling though. I was like "Noooo!! Start from the bottom up my guy." Don't get me wrong, your hair looked great when they finished. Have you told them any tips on how to work with hair so it doesn't get damaged?

Para E .T.: Wow he definitely deserves credit! Your hair looks beautiful

Olanna Oji: He did really well, even in Nigeria, if you walked into the saloon with all that hair, the stylists would be a bit scared. They'll do the hair well, but the entire time the whole saloon will remind you of how long and full your hair is.

GUERA G: Girl you got some dope I mean beautiful natural hair and it’s long! I do the same thing too though lol I be changing my hair straight but your curls were so adorable on you! Can’t wait to see how you look straight! But dang you are a cutie pie with your natural just have to know what product to use I don’t lol so I keep straightening it but what sucks it gets puffy

Ms.Veenaboo: I’m so impressed. I can’t believe they took you. You’re definitely not afraid of breakage or heat damage, you definitely know it’s just hair and not stunting about it❣️

Vogue Flower: Girl you had me nervous! They did the best they could

Urza: Respect to him for accepting!

VOW: I’m so happy with this comment section. I expected to see people dogging him for not having experience with a hair type he isn’t exposed to. Being Understanding is much better than blind rage.

Nadia Kindle: Love this! I think he did good and will definitely get better each time! I would go back

Venus Mercury: This was a good learning experience for them he did really good and was polite. I appreciate him not being prejudice we are all beautiful , but very different.

MuscleOverMisery: Lol at first sight they knew it was going to be a challenging day. Love that they kept a sense of humor instead of attitudes. Great video.

Dudinha Graboski: Cabelo lindo cacheado

A Name: I am glad that he gave you the time needed to do your entire hair, you are so nice saying it was ok to leave your hair like that seriously. I’m glad he finished the job though.

Sis. "D" LIGHT Full: The last time I was in Korea, it felt like 65% humidity. Lol, it was so nice actually, but I don't think I would have been as brave as you. Being tender-headed is no joke. Kudos to you.

babydoll Jan: They did a good job it really looks good!

Austin 'N' Suff: Your hair is so pretty. I'm both jealous and relieved that I don't have to deal with it.

Uneak Tershai: The fact that he accepted though speaks volumes about his passion for hair ✨
