Potato Water For Hair Growth - A Scalp And Hair Recipe

white_potatoesThe other day I wrote a list of things you can or should do if you want longer hair. The post was titled “20 Ways To Make Your Hair Grow Faster And Retain Length“.

If you missed that post you can read it again and then come back here to see what I am talking about now. On that list I mentioned using potato water for hair growth and while I did not go into much detail, I really wanted to talk about it a little more now.

Why is potato water great for hair growth?

When it comes to hair growth vegetables are really where it’s at. We tend to talk about juicing more often, getting your greens and whole foods in so that you have the right amount of vitamins* and minerals to keep our hair follicles healthy and your hair growing.

Potatoes are considered a starchy food but really good for you because of how vitamin rich they are. In addition to eating them women have been using potatoes topically on their hair by juicing them and making a sort of liquid mask for their hair and scalp. Potatoes are rich in vitamins* A, B and C which are perfect for dry damaged hair and did I mention very healthy for your scalp?

How to prepare the potato

Grate and puree the potato, skin and all and squeeze the juice out. You can further strain it with a muslin cloth to ensure that you do not have chunks of potato in your hair (you can also try using your juicer* if you have one). Once you have prepared the potato add the following:

1 egg white

1 table spoon honey*

I found this recipe in video format so that you can see just what your mix should look like. Massage your scalp and coat your hair then leave it on for up to 30 minutes and watch the growth happen.

It is recommended that you do this 2 -3 times a week, personally for me and probably many of you that is way too much. If you want to try it once a week or once every 4 days you should be fine!

Check out this short video tutorial for the recipe:
