It'S! Okay! So how to get people to respect you I feel like this is different for everybody and I feel like a lot of what I'm gon na say is like [, __ ]. That y'all already know. I feel like when it comes to the person that we just we either. You know we want them to be our friends so bad or we just want love and acceptance from them that will kind of tolerate anything. So trust me, I been there done. That would not be the person I am would not be making this video. If I have not, you know been that person and the first one. This is the most important thing. This is the most obvious thing is that you need to you need to respect yourself. People are not going to respect you. If you don't even respect yourself, like that's a given what you want from other people, you need to give it to yourself people weren't. Respecting me, because I was disrespecting myself like the way that I talk to myself, sometimes is just y'all, don't hear it or maybe y'all do, but like it's bad, I had to realize like what that may look and sound like to other people like, especially when I Call myself, like, oh my God, I'm such an idiot or I'm so stupid like I'll, say it like in the moment. But I had to realize that like there's some people that, like you, can't like talk to yourself like that around other people, because they'll start like like, if I call myself stupid around other people, people really think I'm [ __ ] stupid and that's just crazy. So I feel like that one is so self-explanatory. You have to respect yourself and you have to decide your worth like not saying that you need to put a number on yourself once I was like okay, I'm in my queen era, like that's the type of energy I'm giving to myself, and that's the energy that I want to receive, like period like you're, not about to come to me talking to me any type of way like when I don't even talk to myself, like that, I don't care who you are you disrespect me I'm out, like I'm gone, no, what what are You, what are you saying, what what no so but we're gon na we're gon na we're gon na get into that um. So you have to decide your worth Queen goddess Empress, bad [, __ ]. I don't care where you are Thug: [, __, ], Hood, [, __, ] princess like decide your worth, and you have to commit to that. It might take you doing some Shadow work. It might take you doing some self-reflecting like. Why do I let people treat me like [ __ ]? Oh because I that's what I think I deserve okay? Why is that? Where does that come from, and for me it's because I talk to myself any type of way, and then I realize like whether I'm joking or not, people think that it's okay number two control your emotions. That was like an actual term like I didn't know that that's what people called it I didn't know it was a thing. I never knew not even knowing that, like people have been doing that to me my whole life and people would do it to you because they know they can get a reaction out of you. They know it if it's so, if it's so easy to say something to you and they know you're gon na crumble and lose your mind and just create chaos and destruction. Of course, they're gon na do it of, of course, they're gon na do it. This one was hard for me too, because I'm very emotional, a lot like I'm I'm. I feel everything in my whole from head to toe in my soul. In my spirit, I feel everything so when somebody makes me mad, I'm literally fuming like I'm and I'm somebody too, I'm Scorpio. I need to control my emotions and my dad actually taught me this. He always he would always say to me: you need to keep your cool, because when you're, when you get mad you're, not thinking straight like you're, not you you can't when you're, when you do things out of emotion, unless it's art or you're doing something creative or You'Re doing something in like the Arts or you're doing something that requires you to use your emotions, where your Mo your emotions are working for you and not against you get them things in [, __, ] check! Okay, because if you don't control your emotions, bad things will happen. Okay, I watch it every day, I'm just we were just watching it together when you react off of your emotions, shit's going to go down and you're going to do something and you're going to say something that you're going to regret when people Gaslight me now and It could be, it could be anything what's one thing that I get, I just got this a YouTube comment. The other day you look like a man now I know when I get that comment. I know I I like I slayed, like I know I like. I look so powerful. Also the androgyny in me is like you have to not let things get to you. I even hate to say this, but you've got to create that barrier where, like anything, anybody says to you, it doesn't reach you fully. It'S almost like, if you create like a glass wall and someone says any something to you, you like read it and then, like you, wipe it away. I think that that's something that I an analogy I've made for myself in order to just survive, being young black in a [ __, ] Glam, star people, it just just being myself being an individual people, love to say things to me, and they expect me to Have this reaction and I and I I get it I'm buffed physically, I you know I do have an attitude. Sometimes I I speak. You know I speak with conviction, so it's I get that it's very easy to think that, like, oh, I know how to piss. Marley off, when you get your emotions under control, when, when people know that they can't move you, they can't shake you like, they can't they're, not shaking anything. They will start to respect you. I I swear to God. I swear to God it's where it's worked on. Everybody even my own me and my mom, because my mom's a cancer, so we know how to I'm a Scorpio, my mom's a cancer and my little sister's a Scorpio. So we know how to I mean when is good is great, but we know how to like. We know how to dig like my mom would say something like don't you think that dress is too tight. This is like back in the day. Don'T you think that dress is too tight and in my head, like I know, she's trying to say like I've gained weight or I'm like you know what I'm saying like. I know that, like there's an underlying thing, but I had to remind myself that, like it could be, the dress was too tight. You know what I'm saying like. Not everything our mind believes what it wants to believe, and it may not always be true is what I'm saying anytime. She would say something like that would get so mad right away so mad right away, but now when she says something I'm like no, I don't think so, like calmness being calm, showing no emotion that [ __ ] will be your [ __ ] superpower - oh my God, I'm not doing my hair. You also always want to maintain good posture too, like if you're having a conversation or if you're, in an interview or something like that, you never want to slump. You never want to slouch. You want to sit up. You want to you know, put put it on put that bad [, __, ] energy, on I Instant Respect when you walk in the room shoulders back like head held high, like that's instant, instant people, gon na get the when I go places people get out of My way, maybe because I'll be storming through places, but no I'm I'm kidding and then to add on to that, you want to embrace others too genuinely Embrace people that come in contact with you to gain respect doesn't mean that you have to be disrespectful. I can get disrespectful, but I'm not a disrespectful person. Anybody that I ever come in contact with, I always fully embrace them. I feel like that's something that gets overlooked. Sometimes, when you think about in terms of like respect, I feel like people respect people who they feel good around. You know I I'm not going to respect somebody that doesn't like doesn't like. Has this weird energy towards me that doesn't embrace me or thinks, like you know, one way or other not that I'll give a [ __ ], but I'm like you're, not gon na earn. My respect like that, like I'm gon na, go and respect people that I'm fully embraced by, and that makes sense I just you know, wanted to add that in there number three be a [ __ ] only when necessary. If you are a 24 7 [ __ ], you need to fix that because it's giving miserable it is giving misery. Why are you so mean? Why are you so mean and Evil? Why why nobody wants to be around that that [, __ ] is not cool. That whole high school mean girl, Regina George thing like that is like it that's ugly. I don't give a [ __ ] about your social status. I don't give a [ __ ] about how cool your clothes are. How nice your clothes are, how expensive your clothes are? I don't care about the car that you drive. I don't care, I don't. Nobody cares. If that's the re, like you, think that you're so high and mighty and Rich and pretty and and whatever that you feel like that's a reason for you to go being a [ __ ] to everybody, so people will will treat you with some type of respect. People will respect you when they realize and if they're [ __ ] smart enough to know that you are irreplaceable, the qualities that you offer, whether it's in a friendship in a relationship at your job. You know other people just can't they don't have the range, especially like when I started becoming like a well known makeup: artist in the DMV area and the amount of respect that I got knowing that when it came to like wedding makeup, I'm a slay it when It came to like photo shoot editorial Couture, I'm gon na slay it when it came to prom I'm gon na slay it when it came to soft Glam, I'm gon na slay it when it came to like music video, I'm gon na select, I'm so well in Deep in my craft that, like oh you're, gon na respect me when you let people know they will act accordingly and if they don't it's time to get the [ __ ]. Okay, if I let you know, I don't like when you do something and you don't switch it up, if you don't act accordingly, baby I'm gone, I'm out you either gon na miss me or you won't, but me I'm irreplaceable, you're not going to you're not going To find, you may think that you will find somebody like me and maybe yeah she can do what I can do to a certain extent, but she's not me, and that mindset you need to take everywhere. I do truly feel like people respect me, because they know that I'm going to give them the honest truth, because I have no reason to lie [ __ ], it could be. It could be a murderer with a gun to my head asking me something, and you know, depending on how that day is going like it's it's. Let me not say that, sometimes, even if my life depended on it like, why would I lie? I don't know if it's because of my my mental uh behave like my ADHD, like I just don't see the point in lying and I feel like. Maybe I don't know, I've never been taught to lie. Actually I that's a lie. That'S that's a lie. My mom would always tell me like you need to learn how to like, not be so brutally honest, like I think with me. Maybe I'm too direct like like if somebody says like hey, do you like this instead of me saying no I'd be like [ __ ]? No, you know like that's. You know oh, but that's I'm working on that, but, like people will respect you more, if you tell the truth period like there is nothing like stop lying. I guarantee you people don't care that much people don't care like you, think that they're gon na care cover up lie. Excuse like stop making ex like it at a certain point. I'M just like. I don't know if you're lying or, if you're telling the truth like do you get like. Do you think I'm stupid? I may not be a good liar, but I know how to finesse: okay and the girls that get it the girls that get it get it finessing and lying is two different things. I know some of y'all are like Marley. First, I realized that once I started putting myself first, I started getting a lot more respect like people who people please but like unnecessarily, you know what I mean like sometimes like it's good to like you want to care, for others you're a giving person, but sometimes You and yeah I feel like I know what I'm talking about when you just like. You know that person that just like overdo it like you just like you, don't you're being just stop put yourself. First, maintain good hygiene. Take care of yourself! Look good smell, good, be well put together, instant, I mean Instant Respect, maintain healthy habits. I know that like when I was like a full-blown alcoholic people did not respect me when I was popping them them things. People did not respect me, but once I started taking care of myself, I mean like I mean I've, always you know, but once I like did it fully? Oh, my arm gets hurt and when I say maintain good hygiene, we all get into our depressive episodes and States. We all go through periods of time where we don't take care of ourselves, I'm not going to elaborate because it's going to sound like I'm shaming. Actually, I will elaborate because I feel like maybe if it comes for me, y'all will like y'all will get what I'm saying also not to like to keep saying it, but I was raised by a Ghanaian mother. Okay, I remember in high school. I was going through it. I didn't shower for three days right and my mom. My mom goes Michelle. I haven't taken your bath, I don't understand she noticed because I always like when I I'm somebody when I slip into a depressive episode yeah. I stop doing the things I was somebody in high school. If I came to school with no makeup on people would be like. Oh don't don't talk, don't don't talk to her today, like she's, not she's, not having a good day. So when my mom noticed that, like okay, it's been three days, you haven't taken a shower like what's going on, I would be like Mom I'm depressed. How would I look back at it? It'S just so funny because she would be like go be depressed in the bath okay, so you want to lay in bed all day, go, take a shower and then go lay down, and it's just it's just like their way of thinking. It'S just so funny. I don't know I just I feel kind of bad saying it, but it needs to be said. If you know you are going to be around other people and you're not feeling well, and you feel like you're too depressed to brush your teeth or take a shower or just look. Semi-Presentable baby don't go around. Nobody stay home. Okay, nobody wants to smell you. If you haven't showered for a period of time, okay, it's one thing. You know even sometimes when I'm on my period and I'm just feeling like [ __, ] I'll go like two days without taking a shower. I don't, and since my mom told me that I give myself a three day, rule three days without take without taking a shower is no we're we're not doing that, but I'm, if I'm not going anywhere and I'm not seeing anybody, then okay, if I'm just laying In the bed in my own, like filth, whatever, oh my God, I can't even believe I'm saying this on camera: full transparency, but like okay, that's fine, but do not bring that stankiness around other people, because that is disrespectful. You want people to respect you when you, when you're, when you stink, you want people to respect you when you haven't brushed your teeth when you haven't brushed your hair when you've when you've got food stains, and should I girl? No, no. How that instantly tells me that you don't respect yourself, you, don't you don't care about yourself, okay and that's again, I hate to like bring like depression and all that stuff into it. But if you want people to respect you, you need to practice good hygiene. Okay get a morning routine, get a night routine. It doesn't have to be crazy with the with the serums and the lotions and the crystals and the candles and the bath water and the Roses like when you wake up in the morning, wash your face: okay, better! Yet put your toothbrush in the shower. Put your toothbrush in the shower, put your face wash in the shower. If you are going, if you're going outside and you're pressed for time. This is something that I had. I had to learn how to do because I'm always running late, I'm getting in the shower, I'm washing my face. I'M brushing my teeth and washing my ass, I'm putting on lotion I'm putting on perfume, I'm not in and if I do have a stain or something take something and wipe it takes two seconds. Sorry, I'm ranting, I don't mean, I hope, that's not coming off as like shameful, but, like think about it, think about think about wherever you go wherever you are or wherever you work, the person that gets the most respect, you see them and they look well put Together, people don't disrespect, people who don't take care of themselves is what I'm saying I mean people do yes, but not in that. Like regard okay, that's I'm gon na have a really hard time editing this, like I was talking so much. My [ __ ] wand cut off number seven boundaries make them known, make them present. Let people know somebody do something you don't like. I don't do that. The people who get disrespected the most don't have boundaries. That'S I mean we all know that. We all know that whether it comes to relationships at your job, like ain't, no way like if your manager knows that he could call you any time of any day whether you hanging out with your kids or you have you're on vacation. You'Ve got something planning your manager know that they could call you and they know that you're gon na come in. You don't have boundaries. If your partner knows that they can talk to you any type of way and you could and you're always going to take them back, you don't have boundaries. I used to be on my phone 24 [ __ ], seven this before I like started my own [, __, ] right or before, like this is I'm talking like when I was just on some social social like [, __ ]. I would be on the phone talking on the phone from the minute I woke up to the minute. I went to sleep even falling asleep on the phone was people people I didn't even want to talk to would I would be on the phone with them now. You know better than to call me do not call me to shoot the [ __ ], because I'm gon na I'm literally going to be like what do you want right and I feel like it's that's kind of rude but like what do you want? But I guess that just comes with like life and like growth and like experiences like I can read people a mile away like when people especially like. If we don't talk like that, and you think that you can like call me to catch up when it really. You just want to know like what's going on, even though I don't got [ __ ] going on, because for some reason people think my life is like wild and crazy and in a way it is. But it's really not like uh-huh, like girl, I'm not about to I'm not about to sit on the phone with you, like that's crazy, gossiping or like just no, if you're like me - and you just want your peace of mind, put that phone down when people call And they're not calling you for nothing, you're, calling me to tell you some [, __ ] that you already know leave that [ __ ] alone. I don't know how many times I have to tell you that quit that job [ __ ] that [ __ ] she's, not your friend like I'm, not about to sit on the phone and tell you some [, __ ], that I have already told you like You'Re not about to call me to investigate on my life you're not about to talk to me any type of way, because you think that you can you're not about to think that you're gon na [ __ ] me on the first date, because you took me Out to dinner, or you just because you think that I owe you like No Boundaries, people boundaries make them known. Tell a [ __ ], no tell that [, __ ], no tell people! I don't like that. I don't like it when you do that and if they continue to do that, that tells you everything that you need to know. Let me do my [ __ ] hair. Oh my God, number eight learn to communicate effectively. People always say this to me a lot that I'm like a people person like, I know how to talk to people, and I just think of it as like, like talking to people, it's literally like languages, but again that just comes from life and life experiences. The way that I would talk to my mom is different. The way that I would talk to a black American mother, which is going to be different than how I talk to a white American mother. How I talk to my white friends may be a little different than how I talk to my black friends, maybe a little different. How I talk to my older friends, it's going to be different. How I talk to my younger friends, but I'm still being me and I'm still being myself, I feel like people respect me more because they know that I'm going to communicate with them in a way that they will understand. But I'm not like not being myself. Am I making sense like when I'm dealing with kids I'm very direct right because kids, you can't like you, can't be talking too much with a kid I would know. I have ADHD. So people talk to me, like I'm, I'm a child, how I am with wrath because he's my child when he running around sit down. I'M really about to make this sound. Like he's my child, I'm not RAF. You know you're running around and you're making a mess, and could you please like that to me? That'S not why people talk to their kids, but no, like me, communicating effectively sit the [ __ ] down. You know I want you to sit down. You know. I want you to sit down right now. You know what I'm saying Grant not that you need to be cussing at your kids and I totally get how like that comes off like abrasive or rude or whatever, but I feel like people do respect you more when you say what you want to say directly When you're straightforward with what you want or what you want to say instead of just like, I don't know, but I I don't know if it's a cultural thing or maybe it's like a DMV thing like I grew up in the northern Virginia DC Maryland region, and I claim all three because I was in all three or just like an East Coast thing, like we kind of have this thing where we're just like what are you saying when people just don't say what they need to say, I'm always just like what, if like Say what you need to say like or or better yeah like? What are you saying for real, like what like say what the [ __ ]? It is that you want to say. If you want people to respect you, you need to practice good communication and that's coming from me a Scorpio. We don't always speak on how we feel in the moment, but people know like even communicating effectively comes from a look. It comes from body language. It could be like, like, if you're on a date and a guy puts his hand on your on your knee and you look and you look like like what the like. Why are you touching me like you? Don'T, even sometimes you don't even have to speak. Communication learn it live it. The worst thing that's going to happen. Actually, no, you could get cussed out, but I'm saying like you don't have you don't have to be rude about it, but just do it effectively. That might have been a mess, but I y'all get what I'm saying: oh [ __ ] Sizzle it. Okay number, nine, have unshakable confidence, and what - and what I mean by unshakable is that you need to develop a confidence that nobody can take away from you. You know what I'm saying when people tell me, you know my makeup is too bold or it's weird or it's dark? It'S demonic. I look like a man. I look like a drag queen you're, not shaking [ __ ] over here. Like I know, I look good. Don'T let people take away how you feel about you is what I'm saying, because that alone, when people realize that they can do that, they will stop respecting you or they just won't respect you all together. Y'All, don't know how many times I'll be out somewhere and people try to put me in my place or they try to just. I don't even know, I don't even know the word for it, but they just think that they can just like like disrespect me by saying something that is just like I'm like, I don't believe you you know like. I, don't I don't. No, you know like no, and that just comes from like a deep, deep rooted, self-love that you have to have for yourself, because people will disrespect you in ways like there's always going to be a new way of of people trying to disrespect you life to some People is just a competition and when they see that you know you're doing good for yourself or or even like you're on some self-healing you're on a self-healing journey. Other people don't like that. Other people don't want to see you doing better than them and it's sad because we should be congratulating and not hating, it's just it's just the evil. It'S just the evil world we live in, but your confidence needs to be. I mean solid. You need to build a solid foundation of confidence. Okay, I'm gon na go in with this. This portrays me every time, I'm sorry, I'm always screaming. My neighbors probably think that, like I'm getting abused in here and low-key, I am but from myself and number 10, this one's very important, and this might take some time what is going on. I'M realizing that there's a very thin line between respect and fear. You know, because, generally the people that you don't respect, you don't you know it's almost like a like in a like girl. What are you gon na? Do that girl? What what you gon na do? You know what I'm saying like, which is me. I say that all the time but um, but that doesn't mean I don't respect people you need to have some form of consequence. When people disrespect you. I definitely think with me. People think that if they disrespect me I'm going to be violent and I'm so funny. I I truly believe that that in itself makes people respect me. However, the easiest thing that you can do and is a very easy consequence, is cutting people off. There are billions of people in this world that will love and respect you. Please do not settle for somebody who doesn't yeah; maybe we should okay y'all we're going old Hollywood, because I knew this would happen. I knew I knew this would happen. I knew it. Okay. People need to know that if they don't respect you that there is going to be a consequence, whether it's you're going to cut them off whether you're going to curse them out people, just you can't let people disrespect you, that's it like. I guess making people fear the unknown is just a sadist, uh Scorpio thing but, like I feel like it's it's clear as day that like, if you disrespect me, that's it that's it and that right there is the consequence, because if you're my friend and you disrespect Me we're no longer friends, you know what I'm saying like I'm taking all that good vibe and loving life, [ __ ], I'm taking that [ __ ] right, the [ __ ] back the [ __ ], if you're providing a service for somebody and they disrespect You take that [ __ ], the [ __ ] back because who the [ __ ] do people think they are ow.
