Hello, everyone today, i'm working on a christmas bow. I'Ve got an order on etsy, so this is what i'm working on. I make these elf on the shelf. Hair bows i've printed all this fabric myself. I designed this little text here myself and i have done a tutorial on this i'll link it at the end of this video, and with this bow, i offer a free bow card, so i've got it up on here ready. I made this little poem up myself. I got some ideas online and made it up myself and the program or the software i'm using is greeting card factory deluxe and i'm using a a4 piece of paper on here. I won't go through it all completely. I'M not a complete computer whiz, but this is the program i always use ignore all these bits down the side. These are just bits i sometimes use to fill the card rather than just print it out and waste a load of paper or card. I usually fill it up, but i'm just gon na show you today how i do this, so the little girl's name is lily may and she's named her elf elfie. So i've edited all of this part and then what i'm going to do now is group that all together make sure i catch the border in as well. I'M doing it one-handed because i'm holding my camera. So i'm going to group all of those items together and i've placed it right in this corner to print and i've done a landscape. So when i print it out, i can cut the card like this and then i can cut my slits here. To put my bow on so that is how i print my own bow card at the top here. You'Ve got your ruler, so the bow is three and a half inches. So i want my card to fit a three and a half inch bow. So, as you can see, the card is going to be at least four inches wide, with this little print at the top i'll cut it out. So that there's a border around this and then it comes all the way down and i'll probably stop it about here, because for one bow, if it was for two bowls, i'd cut it all the way to the bottom. But i'll show you that when i get to it anyway, but i keep all of these little drafts here so when i open it up, i can just ungroup her and i can edit this text to whichever name i don't have to read you the whole thing Again, i can edit this little piece here to whatever the elf's name is, and then i regroup it together. Just was all there together and i was not gon na separate and then i was ready to print out. So, just here i've got a piece of card. In my printer, i've got the canon and as the canon pixma mg3650s and i've got a card already in my printer. So i'm now going to print this out and then i'll come back on here and show you what it comes out like so here it is printed out on my piece of card, as you can see, there's quite a lot of waste, which is why i like To do a few if i can, but i've only got one ordered for now, so this is where my cutting board comes in handy, i line my paper up with the cutting board and i'm using a scalpel. If you haven't got a scalpel, you can use scissors. So i'm going to line my ruler up with the lines on the cutting board. I'M lining it up with the lines on this side and the lines on this side. So i know that that is dead straight and the paper is or the card is lined up with the lines on the cutting board as well. Now, if you haven't got a scalpel, you can just use a pencil and mark where you want a cup of scissors, but if you've got a scalpel, it's just as easy to run a scalpel across like that. I'M just going to move my bow and then i'm going to turn this round to the side, i'm going to cut it quite close to the lights on this side and then i'll trim off this side close to the lights as well, because i want it to Be able to fit into a bag so again lining up my card with the lines on the cutting mat lining up my ruler with the line on the cutting mat as well. I can then trim that side excuse my bent ruler. The kids have been playing with it and they thought that was funny about that bent and i had to spend time trying to get it straight, which was impossible right now, we're going to cut the other side i'll just turn it around this way for easiness. So again, i'm lining my card up with the lines on my board and i want to cut leaving the same border as this side so to about here lining my ruler up and the card and my ruler with the lines on the cutting board. So i get it nice and square now we can cut our slits, so our bow is going to clip into the card so around halfway i'll use my ruler, so it's 10 centimeters wide. So i want it to be around the 5 centimeter mark. So i'll just do a little dot there with my blade and then i'm just going to cut a line around the middle part. So this part here is five and a half centimeters, so around two to three centimeters i'll do a slit in there, and that is basically your finished bow card. And what you do is you take your clip and you pop it inside that slit and then you can pop it into a little gift bag, and that is just a little idea for you. If you want to just add a little bit of something extra to your bows now, another thing you could do - which i sometimes like to do - is to round off these edges just to take off the harsh finish. So just take your scissors and just trim off those corners. You don't have to do this, but i just think that gives it an even nicer finish. Okay, i hope you enjoyed this quick little tutorial if you've got any questions pop it into the comments below and i'll do my best to get back to you i'll pop a link in the description of the program that i've used. It is around 35 pound, but i used to use it for making greeting cards, and now i use it to print my own canvas um. I use it obviously to print around bold cards um i print out safety guides for the hair bows. I just there probably are other programs out there, but i just find that one easy to use like i said no computer wiz and i just find that one quite easy to go on and just sort of take two if you're not that clever on a computer. So yeah i'll link that in the description under the video as well. Thank you for watching everyone. Bye, bye,
