‣ Here's my wash day routine for dry 4C natural hair (TWA) - includes how to cleanse, deep condition, finger detangle and steam your 4C natural hair.

My wash day routine used to take hours - I mean 6+ hours. But I've created this short and simple wash day routine, so now it take me 3 hours max. My wash routine includes pre-pooing, cleaning, deep conditioning, detangling, steaming and styling. ALL IN 3 HOURS!

Thanks for watching!

Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so, as many of you may already know, I big chopped my hair for the second time back in March of this year and my wash routine has actually changed pretty significantly since I've big chopped for the second time. So I wanted to do a wash routine video for you guys just to show you what my wash day routine looks like now that my hair is a lot shorter. So without further ado, let's just get right on into the video, so I've been wearing my hair in twists underneath a wig lately, so my hair is really dry and crusty, so we're going to start out with pre-cooling first, i spritz water, all over my hair. Just to loosen it up and get a little bit of moisture in there and get things going and after that I split it into four sections, or at least what will fit into four sections. I do have some really small short nubs that won't fit into sections. So after that, I just worked in sections taking the twists out and really just feeling for any loose hairs or shed hairs just lightly pulling at my hair to remove any of those shed hairs, and then we get into the good stuff. So I take a handful of coconut oil and I am not stingy at all with the coconut oil and apply that all over the section - and I just love coconut oil because it makes my hair so extremely soft. So I add a little bit more water to that section and begin to lightly finger detangle, not too much just because I am going to finger detangle more once. I am deep conditioning my hair so again just feeling for any knots any tangles any shed hairs and pulling those out very, very, very lightly. So then I just add even more coconut oil than I did before. Again, the girl loves coconut oil. My hair loves coconut oil, so yeah coconut oil. Once I'm done with that, then I put a plastic bag over my head and I'm gon na sit with this pre-poo for about 15 to 20 minutes. So after I've applied the bag. I don't know I like to get all the air out of the bag. I don't know if that makes a difference, but once I do that, I put on a 100 % cotton t-shirt and you know just let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes and let that coconut oil penetrate my hair next getting into shampooing. I get in the shower and remove all of that coconut oil out of my hair, just rinsing it out thoroughly and my hair is very thick, so I do have to really rinse it for a minute for all of that coconut oil to get out of my Hair then I take my favorite shampoo design, essentials, naturals, stuff I'll, put the link in the bottom below, and I put that I concentrate it on my scalp, but because my hair is short, of course it does get on the ends of my hair as well, but I just apply that with my hand and really rub it into my scalp just to get that all nice and clean, but I don't stop there. I do use a shampoo brush and I think I got this from the place that everyone else gets tears from I'll leave. The link down below. I don't know - and I used that to shampoo my scalp even more, and I love this brush because it helps with dandruff. It also gets the blood circulating in your scalp, which of course, stimulates your hair growth, and it just feels really good as well. I just oh my gosh this. It literally feels like I'm at a massage parlor, getting a scalp massage. It feels amazing, but you do have to make sure that you use it very gently or else it can actually damage your scalp. So you don't want to use it too harshly and then once I'm done with that, I rinse out the shampoo again rinsing it very thoroughly because the shampoo can't actually get trapped in my roots, because my hair is so thick and so dense. So I just rinse out the shampoo thoroughly. Now, let's get into deep conditioning, I absolutely love the Aussie 3 minute miracle, deep conditioner, which I haven't used in a while, since my last big chop honestly. So I kind of went back to my roots about literally and figuratively, with this one, and I use this for a deep conditioner, getting it all over my hair and then I also detangle with it as well, because it does provide a lot of great slip. So I just kind of go through with my fingers and comb through my hair, I will say one great thing about having a TWA is that it's so easy to detangle. I just take my fingers and rake through it like a comb, and my fingers go right through. This is what my hair looks like once: I've added the deep conditioner next I actually steam my hair, which I don't see a lot of people on YouTube doing, but because my hair is so thick and coarse and dry, I need to steam my hair versus just Putting on like a heated cap because steaming actually lifts the follicles or the cuticles on each strand of your hair and allows that conditioner to get into your strands and really moisturize your hair and lock in that moisture. So that's why I really love steaming versus just putting on you know a towel or a cotton t-shirt and walking around the house. I like to steam it and really allow that moisture to penetrate into each of my hair strands to keep that moisture throughout the week. So this is what my hair looks like after steaming, and it feels so pillow soft. I get oh gosh, it feels so soft. I just I can't. I can't stop touching my hair after that I rinse my hair and I use warm water to rinse my hair. Initially and again, I have to be very thorough with it, because if not, I will have conditioner stuck in the roots of my hair, so I just rinse it very thoroughly and then after I rinse with warm water, I rinse it with cold water and what that Does is seal the cuticles it closes them and make sure that all that moisture from the deep conditioner actually stays in your hair strands. So this is what my hair looks like with zero product after I've washed out the deep conditioner. The front is actually a lot looser and curl pattern. Then the back is so I'd say the front is probably 4b, maybe and then the back is 4c and after that I just put on that 100 % cotton t-shirt and allow my hair to dry for about 30 minutes, and that is it for my wash day. If you guys want to see how I style my hair, be sure to watch my twist out video - and I will see you guys in my next video - be sure to LIKE comment and of course subscribe. Peace

Felisha Phillips: 4b-4c girls where you at!!!

Shantell R: it’s always nice to see someone with short 4c hair on yt, most of these natural hair girls have long 4a and 4b type hair

hanna turner: 3 years after and I find this video very much useful, love the representation of actual 4c hair. ❤️

Princess J Sarumi: Am I the only one whose arms hurt so much while putting the hair in section and doing the protective style ... damn especially for my dry-hair

SweetPeach: We literally have the exact same hair haha. Mine is 4b in the front and 4c in the back. Yay I am definitely subscribing for more

Natalie Brown: I big chopped one year ago today and it has been such a journey trying to find the right hair products for my 4c/ something else hair. I appreciate your channel so much! Your videos give me life and have also pointed me in a way better direction than I used to be heading in Thank you!

L Taylor: Your videos give me hope! I literally cried this morning because I can't get my daughters hair to grow no matter what I use its so dry and short idk what to do with it. I've been trying to find styles and couldn't! I decided to stop everything and leave her natural but I felt it was too short to style AND she's rough so I cant just leave it. Thank you for your Vids.

Bari Merrille: I just did a big chop 4 months ago. I'm now trying to get my hair to stay moisturized doing the winter. I have a curl defining video on my page and definitely was trying to figure out how to keep it moisturized. I will try your method on wash day!

itsalfredo: Thanks for the video!!! I’m young but iv been wanting to learn how to keep my hair nourished and all the videos I see are for long hair. Great video

Jaeyong: finally a real tutorial for 4C type hair , thank you !

LuClu81: I recently added steaming to my wash day routine and I LOVE it!! My hair stays moisturized a heck of a lot longer

Pamela Grace: This is SO GOOD! I'm transitioning for like the millionth time and my natural hair is just like this

Myy World: We have the same hair pattern. I have 4b at the front and 4c from the middle side to the back.. And I have done a second big chop too.. New subscriber alert. I just discovered your channel!

Tijyoncé: I love we have the same hair texture, 4c ❤️ I cut my hair yesterday while I was flat ironing so I need a way to start over because my hair was damaged from it being dyed all the time..

Teeenuh Beenuh: My hair definitely looks like yours! I just wish I could keep it moisturized and defined. It always dries frizzy! Mine is looser in the front too

Shy Lewis: I’m definitely going to do this girl thank you finally one that work

JayeJaye714: Great video. You can also use pure Aloe Vera Juice to close your cuticles. I have started back using my steamer to deep condition as well, however, I will be looking to purchase a Pibb hooded hair dryer to deep condition as well as use it to dry my hair. @Naakie Nartey, how long have you been natural?

Tshiamo: You and your hair are amazing and this routine was great.

6NorthStar: Very helpful.Thank you for sharing these tips.

Flo: I had my big chop in March too!...and we've got the same length. Was annoyed it wasn't growing but seeing yours it seem it is.

Nana: I have the same hair type 4c and everything!!! The funny thing is I am more 4c in the front but the back is more looser like 4b 4a so it’s hard to really get a good coil curl in the back

Angelica Shipps: I love your hair sooo much!! It’s so beautiful!!! Just bomb!! ❤️❤️❤️ 4c glory!!!

Caresse Drake: Hey naakie I have very similar hair to yours and due to damage on my hair I big chopped again recently , I love the ideas on wash day , my hair is too short for a twist out , do you have any ideas or recommendations for a wash n go to keep my curls defined without making them hard with gels ? Thanks so much in advance for any advice you have

Favour xoxo: Yooo after all these my arms be aching like crazy... I'm really happy to have finally found someone who has hair like mine..short 4c

Dami A.: this is literally how my hair looks

maybekeke: We have like the same exact hair type, I love it so much and it's gonna be so pretty whe it's long enough to style for me.

KemZi: How do y'all's hair stay that length when wet? I have that spiritual shrinkage so my hair disappears. I wanted to see how you kept it stretched without twists but we don't have the same shrinkage problem so you didn't have to

Michelle Grobbelaar: Your hair looks like mine but I identify as 4a and 4b because I have a lot of curl and definition and coils on the side. Your hair is beautiful and we are the same length. Keep it up.

Dscwisdom: Omg! You are my hair twin! Thick, dense, dry, and a little bit looser hair texture in the front. FOLLOWING

Ayanna Monderoy: I squeeze the air out of the pastic cap too

Brianna&Mia Gymnasts: I suggest not ceiling the deep conditioner with cold water because when you’re doing the LCO method or the LOC method or just any kind of Moisturizing you won’t be able to get anything in your hair which will cause buildup

Ada BrandyWorld: you deserve so many more subscribers omg

kelsey James: Just used this method & did some things from the comments that the creator commented on & im happy to say I loved this method❤️

Judith Phaustus: Your hair is just like mine... I'm excited to learn from you

Mrs. Rhodes: You Are So Helpful! Thanks very Much!

Black Butterfly: You are naturally pretty! ♥️

hairCARTEL: I'm loving the thickness in your hair

Memoir Young: Thumbs up on the video!4c hair! Love it! If this is what 4c hair looks like I want it. I'm trying to figure out my hair type and it isn't easy. 5 weeks ago I let my barber shave my hair off down to a fade. Bald on the sides and back and a little fuzz on top. It's growing like wild weed now. The growth at first looked like tiny tight curls. Now 5 weeks after the cut it is looking less curly. I have to moisturize twice a day. In the morning I moisturize with jamaican black castor oil and blue magic hair grease (old school). In the evening I moisturize with jamaican black castor oil. My hair seems to soak up moisture overnight. Can't pass up an opportunity to plug while on here so go to barnes&noble.com and check out my work under Tonya Young #readabook

totally not tas: Guys! I just washed my hair using this method, it word so well and I'm so happy. My hair feels so moisturized, my hair doesn't really grow because once when I was younger I accidentally cut my hair while taking out my box braids. My hair was so long but, let's be honest, I was like 6. I think my hair was damaged and it was probably because of heat damage (I always used a lot of flat irons and curling irons etc.) Now me and my mom are working to grow my hair healthy and for it to actually start growing.✌❤️❤️

rock starblow: Omg I finally!!!!!!!!!!!! found someone with my same hair type and the same length thank u !!!!!!!!!!!

prettyash76: Lol my hair is extra thick also. It seems like I have to rinse for days. My front is more loose then my back also. We are hair twins!

HealthyGemini: I just big chopped 2 weeks ago and I was wondering how my hair got on Youttube lol this is exactly what my hair looks like now. Do you think that wearing a conditioning cap under the hooded dryer does the same as steaming? This is typically what I do to deep condition my hair. Definitely subscribing to my hair twin!

Meagyyn Rose: Why is this so relaxing to me

Des 101: You’re hair literally looks just like mine

Cristal McCoy: Do you prefer spraying your hair with cold water or warm water? Does it make a difference?

Brianna Ne'cole: I cut my hair for the 4th time because it was so thick and I didn't want to deal with it. My hair is 4c btw but watching this video is making me miss my curls and my thick texture i just have to learn how to except the fact that I'm a thick curly girl.

Mrs. Rhodes: Pre-Pooing- What Kind of Spray Bottle Are You’re Using? Shampooing- Can I Get Any Shampoo? How Long did you brush it before moving on to the Next Section?
