Welcome to Natural Knowledge, yeah Hair., It comes in different shapes and sizes. In order for hair to stay clean people use fancy hair products., However underdeveloped countries that can’t afford these expensive products for their hair and have found alternative ways to take care of themselves.. Today’S episode on Natural Knowledge, we will focus on how people in India and Ghana use natural resources in their village to their advantage.. India is a poor country still in the process of developing its land.. Due to this, there are many villages with people who live off of 17 rupees a day which is about only 26 cents. Meet Riya from the Kanmalai village in Tamil Nadu.. She, like many others, has long luscious hair that requires extensive care., Her family of eight lives off of one meal a day, leaving no money for hygienic purposes. Near Riya’s house. There are many coconut trees. Everyday Riya dries. The coconut meat and the dried pieces provide Riya’s family with coconut oil.. Riya then makes a special paste with coconut oil turmeric powder, tulsi and bananas.. Moving on Ghana is also an underdeveloped country in West Africa.. Our friend Akwasi will tell us the things she put in her hair. “I have aloe vera plants that my mother cuts open and then scrapes off the juice.. Also, my neighbors give our family a great amount of ginger root, basil and avocados.. We mix these ingredients and make a special paste for our hair, and over the years our hair has grown from close to our ears to almost the middle of our backs.”. Natural resources have tremendous benefits for hair.. Bananas are rich in potassium carbohydrates and other vitamins that help protect the hair's natural elasticity and prevents hair breakage. Avocado oil contains monounsaturated fats, which moisturize & strengthen hair strands.. Aloe Vera contains proteolytic enzymes, which repair dead skin cells on the scalp, and also act as a great conditioner, which prevents itchiness. Ginger Root contains potassium and acids that prevent hair. Thinning. Basil is able to increase blood circulation which induces hair growth and acts as a stimulant to help heal hair., Coconut oil helps fight against insect bites, lice and dandruff, and adds luster shine and softness to hair.. In addition, coconut oil prevents split ends resulting in longer hair length.. All of the mentioned ingredients helped poor villages to have proper hygiene. Stay tuned for another episode.
