Hello there guys this is Christy Lewis from Dostoevsky in space, and today I'm going to be chatting with you about my channel. I have some updates and informational things and some irritations to share with you and I'm also going to be cutting my bangs because they're too long, I've never cut my own bangs, but we're gon na see how this goes. I'M a little nervous to do this because I'm not going to be editing this video, so I'm a little distracted by editing the video, but I mean that's what makes it fun right, I'm the one who has to live with the bangs, not you guys! So no reason for you to worry: oh my gosh, it's so tangled! I should have done this before I came on screen. Okay, we've got the triangle. They say You're supposed to start with the triangle. Okay, I I totally forgot. No, I have the hair bands. Okay. Okay, so my channel uh, you may have noticed I've been a little quiet for a couple weeks. That is because I've been doing physical therapy for my foot, which has been an ongoing problem for like a decade like just so so problematic that I like can't walk Barefoot, can't take showers. I have to take baths crazy stuff. So finally, we've figured out that possibly what I just need is some real, slow, moving basic physical therapy. So that's what we're trying and it's going really well, but it's so time consuming. It takes several hours every day. Okay, this is gon na take several hours at this rate. Okay, there we go, we've got the triangle, okay, so what I'm going for here is the Korean curtain. Bangs, look you can see. My bangs are a little uneven, even though they're so long, because originally I had like a more full bang, look which is also popular in Korea, but this time around I'm doing a different kind. So I've decided to try it okay, so I have to cut the first bit to my it's supposed to be at the bottom of the nose, but I'm just gon na do to my top lip, because I don't want to go too long and then be like Or too short and then be like? Oh, I cut too much off okay. Here we go okay, I'm just making sure I don't even have a mirror in front of me. This is so unwise. Okay, here we go there. We go that's not too bad. I can always go look in the mirror and like even it out later, I look like I'm fighting in Gondor right now. You know if I'm Lord of the Rings, the helmets Okay, so we've got, we've got that done. Excellent, excellent. Okay, I'm a little less nervous. Now that wasn't so bad, these are like super Sharp, I'm very pleased. Okay, I was originally gon na do this with my kitchen, shears and Kevin was like no. My mom has hair cutting scissors just wait a couple days and I'm glad he said that because I definitely feel better about using real hair cutting scissors or at least scissors, that she has used to cut hair previously. Okay, so now here's the second one. This one is supposed to go this one's actually supposed to go to my lip, which it's like at my bottom lip, so I'm just gon na cut a little bit off right, my channel okay, so I just got a notification that Google has closed its account on My channel, which means sorry, I really can't talk because at the same time, but what that means is. I do not get ad Revenue anymore from my videos, so I wanted to let you guys know that, because previously I had said I'm giving all my ad Revenue to you know families together, and so I just wanted to let you know um that we gave them 200 of AD Revenue over the last year or, however long I've had ads, and I wanted to thank you guys for that, because that was really really super special to me just being able okay, I think this one is supposed to go to my chin and it's Like just about at my chin, so we're gon na leave that and then we're gon na part in the middle and cut it on a slant. Here we go um yeah. I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me give to them, because at the time I don't think I even had my job yet so it was more than a year ago, this one's it was longer than a year ago, regardless things have changed a lot Since that happened, I got my job at the library, which means I didn't have a job when I first got monetized, so I was like wow. This is literally my only source of income, I'm so excited I'm gon na give it to families together. So that meant so much to me. I really appreciate you guys doing that and uh. Now I have a job, so that's been a big change and that's part of why my video frequency, I you know, YouTube you. It requires a lot of you to keep up making a decent amount of money, and I just can't do that, especially with my health stuff. It'S just not something that I can do so. I am completely okay, with this being just a fun Channel, again, honestly, there's less pressure on it. Now, that's great! I have a channel that makes money, that's my library Channel. So thank you for all of your eyes to support. It really means a lot to me and do not worry about watching my ads go find those ad blockers do not watch my ads. You do not need to watch my ads, hello guys. I know that I said I was not going to edit this video, but then I actually found out that I guess my ads account hasn't been closed. Like I got an email saying it was closed through Google, but apparently it's just going through YouTube now or something. I don't I don't really get how it works, but apparently I'm still gon na get ad Revenue, so I thought I would just correct the record there. I'M super confused, but I guess we'll figure it out as we go along. I think a lot of people got the same email that I did and I just assumed it was because I wasn't making enough content or something, but I think I was wrong. So that's exciting. I guess we can keep sending stuff to families together so yay, and also I got my hair curlers today and they're, so cute they're pink. I hope you'll have a happy October and I'll talk to you soon bye. I might do something in the future. That would allow me to still give to families together through my account, but I'm not quite ready for that. Yet because, as I mentioned, physical therapy is keeping me so busy, so anyways um. I thought I would also let you know that I totally completely was planning to do boot to you. I filmed a TBR. I worked it all out. It was so perfect. I found a bunch of lines from the um Haunted Mansion ride script. That'S how we were supposed to make our tbrs and I was so excited about it. I totally did it. I found so many good things and I just have not had any time to edit it. I haven't had time to edit anything lately, although actually today I had like an hour to start editing a vlog of books that I read thanks to RM from BTS, so I'm editing that one, hopefully that will be up soon. I don't know what other things I'm gon na be able to put up by the way. Okay, this is it. I think. Oh right, no wait. There'S a little more I'm supposed to like cut up a little bit um, so anyways yeah, I'm still I'm finishing up that Vlog, hopefully I'll, be able to actually put that on my channel sometime soon and I have some other plans. I had a lot of things filmed and ready to go, but I just didn't have time to edit them as soon as physical therapy started because, like I said it's several hours a day that I'm like working on my feet. So in my back so okay, now I think that's it. I think, that's it, so I have to give them some volume, though, because they're just like, which is what happens with my hair. My hair just goes unless I really work on giving it volume. That'S why I try to put texture in it with braids and stuff like that. Excuse me so lately what I've been doing is um, just letting my hair be wet after I wash it and putting it in a bun on top of my head, so it gets like a natural wave and I just let it dry up there. I didn't used to be able to do that because I would get neck problems if I went to bed with wet hair, but my neck problems are much improved, so that's exciting, um, oh hair everywhere, so I'm gon na curl it using my brush here. I actually ordered one of those hair curlers, you know how Koreans and all their dramas and stuff they always get a hair curler and they have it their bangs in a hair curler. I ordered one of those, but it is not here yet. I think it's coming tomorrow, hang on this can be loud. Okay got that side done. I have to leave it for a couple seconds so anyways for my boot to you TBR. I was planning to read uh name of the Rose by Umberto ego, which I was already reading, but it fits so perfectly because there's a line about is this room stretching in the Haunted, Mansion and uh. I loved this section in the name of the Rose where um there's two monks like researching a murder in a um Monastery, and they end up in this library that, like changes - and it's like very it's very strange - it's like hard to find their way out of The library hang on foreign is changing around them and they can't find their way out and it was like. Oh, this is perfect for this line and I also got like uh like an Eva ibbison, witchy book and some other books and Goblin market, for there was a line about like ghouls and goblins or something and yeah. I had big plans but anyways um. There we go. Maybe I curled that the wrong way. Maybe I should have curled it towards me. I don't know anyways there are my bangs, they look. I don't know you could tell me what you think it'll, hopefully look better. Once I get the hair curler, I'm gon na try curling it this way and see what it looks like so anyways for victober um. I'Ve been really wanting to make progress on Lord Jim, but I have not had the focus to really read Classics um, because I've been trying to finish the name of the Rose and that's been a bit of a challenge. So once I finish that I think that does look better. I don't know you guys can. Let me know what you think. Is it better if I curl it inwards or upwards anyways, there are my new bangs very conservatively cut. I feel I don't think I did a terrible job, but I have been loving this. The Wolf Den by Led Harper, which I mean if you're not following Alana Estelle, do yourself a favor and follow her at least on Instagram um, but also on YouTube. Like her reviews, convinced me to read everything, so I picked this up because of Awana. Thank you. Alana, I'm loving this. This is about. I think it's a Greek girl who is kidnapped and brought to Pompeii and forced into sexual slavery, and it's about her and the other girls there. So far. I don't know where it's going at all, but it's historical fiction which I rarely read, but I really want to start reading. I really want to get into like reading history and also historical nonfiction. I think reading historical nonfiction can be like a good gateway drug for reading history. I'M already interested in everything history already, but I feel like it will help me. Remember things better if I'm doing both so I'm loving that the only book that I've actually finished so far this month is come back by um Lynn, Ashwood and Rachel Rose. This is a K-pop novel that Jennifer recommended to me and I loved it so much. I have notes like I would love to go through these with you, but I don't know if I will be able to do that. I haven't even edited my wrap up from last month or anything so anyways. I loved this. This was a really nice break from the name of the Rose. I read this. It took me like a week or two weeks to read this or so so, and then I just got a new book in the mail I ordered my Christmas presents to myself. One of which was the curler for my bangs and then the other one was talk to me in Korean level. Three, I'm still in level two I actually, but my Korean is improving. So much I feel like. I should speak in Korean here to prove that to you, but I get stage right so uh, but I do like write sentences like every day in Korean, so you can check out my Korean Instagram if you're interested in seeing my progress, because I will frequently write Things in Korean on there, but I need to get better at practicing talking as well, actually with people. I want to make more videos for my Korean Channel where I'm actually talking in Korean, but we'll see if I ever have time to do that again, I did film a video about my process for learning vocabulary, so hopefully I can get that up. I'D love to do more reactions, Jennifer and I talked about doing an EXO reaction which I'm falling in love with EXO, but anyways. This is beside the point. I also ordered an 80s DVD of their first concert in Seoul after the pandemic. Yay, I'm very excited for that to come and it's gon na come with like photo cards and all these cool things uh, I have become a humongous double bias, Hong Jung and jungle. I love them both so much from 80s, so I'm really enjoying them and obviously I've been enjoying BTS Joanna just came to visit me and we watched the BTS concert, so lots of Kpop fun um. I do have lots of plans for like live streams. Readathons read-alongs upcoming, hopefully my PT will kind of mellow out a bit and I will have a little more time for editing. But if not, I am planning some live streams like I said, and I'm gon na I'm raiding Project Gutenberg is next month in November. Then there's gon na be an advent read-along of the man born to be king, which is a series of gospel plays by dorotheal Sayers no uh, not during the upstairs um. Ah, the writer of the Lord Peter Ramsey Mysteries, the one we read the book of essays, uh dorothel Sayers, that's who it is um yeah, so we're gon na be reading. Her gospel plays and I'm gon na, go ahead and buy it on Audible and listen to it, because I've already read it once and I loved it, and I want to hear it as it was originally intended. It was originally written for the radio, so I'm so excited about that readathon. Hopefully I will get announcements up for these things, but just in case I'm telling you now um we're also going to be reading Demons by Dostoevsky in December and January and possibly longer. I was planning on reading demons before now, but then I started the name of the Rose and I'm still only like 60 something percent through it. So I have not been able to really continue on with demons yet, but looking forward to that, we're calling it demons in December because that's when we're starting it, but I'm not going to be able to finish it in December so and then January. We'Re gon na. Do Flannery or January again and probably most of our content, our live content will probably be on Noah's Channel. Thank you, Noah and uh. We'Ll have like various discords for a lot of these things as well, and we are planning on doing February agency 2023. So that is every month from here, from November November December January and February, I'm gon na be co-hosting like five readathons and read-alongs. I have an announcement video that has more details for all of those coming out soon. Hopefully, if I can find the time to edit it so anyways all this just to say I'm sorry, I don't have time to edit this, I'm sorry, I haven't been putting out content and um. Thank you so much for sticking around. Thank you for supporting me and being my really cool friends. I just love having you guys in my life and yeah. That'S it I'll talk to you soon, bye-bye

Alana Estelle: AH! I’m so glad you’re loving The Wolf Den!!!! That book is a RIDE! And thank you for the shout out!❤

Tony Cross: I tried cutting my own hair in front of the mirror when I was a small boy. I still have a v-shaped scar in my scalp from where I buried the scissors into my head. Thanks for all the updates. I'm doing my Remembrance Read in November, which is when I focus mostly on WW1 related books as November is Remembrance Sunday in the UK. I did it last year. It also fits with non-fiction November. I'm trying to work out my own themed reading months for 2023.

Matt Kean: You are so fearless lol But it looks professionally done! I'll be reading Demons; been on my tbr for a long time.

Stacy McCaskill-Lilja: Wow! Cutting your bangs without a mirror was brave. They look really good.
