Hi everyone welcome back to my channel and in today's video, i'm finally bringing you my full hair transformation. I'Ve been talking about it for weeks. I finally removed my extensions. I did my full color touch up and i filmed every step along the way. So here's my before and after the aftercare portion of this video is sponsored by biologe. I'Ve often spoken on the importance of having the proper hair care as insurance to your beautiful color, along with the steps that i took to get this color i'll, be showing you my customized hair care using biology's hydrosource range. So i did this transformation over about two and a half days doing hair on yourself is a little bit different than the way you get your hair done at the salon. My channel is all about bringing you at home, hair, diy tips and tricks, and i know that you guys love these videos of me doing my own hair also keep in mind. Everything that i used here today is specific for my hair and my hair coloring and my hair type doesn't necessarily mean that this is exactly what will work for you. So if you are looking to get more personalized formulations, keep in mind, i am doing virtual consults. I will leave all that information in the description box if you are interested in booking that with me, so that you can get your very own personalized formulation, that's going to get you the results! You want on your hair, so in this video i'm going to be showing you removing my extensions doing my full base, color highlighting my hair, doing a root tap and then an all-over toner. So i personally think that your hair looks best, maybe like a week after you've colored it just because it's kind of a little bit more lived in as a hairdresser. I can always tell when hair is just like super freshly toned, and i like it when it's a little more like organic to you, but for this video i feel like it's way more appropriate to just show you like. The final reveal right after i'm done with it so yeah i've had super long 22 inch, hair i've had a very blunt lob and for this transformation i wanted something a little piecier. I don't really want to say it, but almost a moloty, where it's like more voluminous here, really just like more pc, less blunt and thick at the ends. That was just more of the vibe i was going for. I feel 10 pounds lighter without the long extensions they were so much fun while i had them, but i just feel this is more me and this is more livable. Let me know what you guys think of this look, and so, if you're interested in seeing how i got this look just keep on watching. Okay, the day has come. We are finally taking care of this hair, so i have outgrown extensions and i have some roots that really need to be touched up. I need to first remove these super overgrown out extensions. I need to color my roots touch up my grays in order to add some baby lights and some balayage pieces to my hair. So for my extensions, i have tape ins, so the easiest way to remove them is to go in with a tape remover solution, which i just spray at the base kind of massage and let it sit for just a few seconds and then that piece will just Come right out and then those two tapes just come apart and then the best way is to just slide it off. Probably one of the most satisfying parts of doing your hair. So again same thing i like to instead of kind of yanking out it or pulling it from the sides, i'd like to start from the center of that kind of sandwich and slowly pull it apart and now this isn't hurting this isn't pulling on my natural hair. At all and then see on this top side, it's completely. You know detached from my hair, but i make sure that that underneath piece is detached as well, and when you have those two ends free, then you can just go ahead and pull and as you can see, the hair is healthy and there's not been any breakage. It is normal to have some hair still in that sandwich tape, and basically, with that hair is this hair that would have shed on its own, but because it is a sandwich between those two tapes obviously has nowhere to go, and then i like to just comb Through make sure there is no residue and it is crazy to know that these tape ins have been on my hair. I want to say almost four months three months, but it's incredible how it will actually stay on the hair, but then how quick and easy it is to remove and anytime. I took out extensions at the salon. People would always say like. Oh, that was actually really painless and easy, and i was like why was it painful ever? Basically, this step should be done carefully and easily so that, of course, you protect your hair as much as possible, all right so for the base color we're going to be using a mixture of the 6n and 8g mixed with 20 volume. The 8 ag will provide the ash tones and the nn will provide the gray coverage. I always like to do a mixture of both gives me a good balance of coverage with some cooler ash tones. I'M just gon na separate the top half from the bottom and i'm gon na be starting in the back working and coloring the perimeter first and then going in section by section all right. Coming over to this side and doing the exact same thing. I feel like starting on the perimeter just keeps a very clean kind of a work area and then because you go in with horizontal sections, it's kind of like a way to cross check your work and really ensure that you get even saturation all right now with That we've done that bottom section we move on to the top okay and now just the easy part do and when doing a root touch up. Obviously, if you have highlights or balayage done, you want to avoid the lightened pieces, as obviously your base color would cover them. Okay, when i feel like i've saturated each section evenly around the hairline, i like to go in and double check and just pat down kind of any edges, especially if you have kind of little baby hairs. You kind of just want to pat them down to make sure that they have enough color, saturating them kind of have more baby hairs here on this side, so i kind of like to come in and just pat those down all right. So now we're just going to let this process for about 25 to 30 minutes and then we'll be back here for the foil portion of this project, all right. So now that my roots are colored, we have even root base now to go in with our lightener. So i personally have this rule that my hair is longer. I always like to have a more contrasty kind of root to my blonde. The shorter my hair gets the more light accents i like in my hair. So today i'm going to be adding some baby lights to brighten up my roots. So for the highlights, i'm going to be using a mixture of the schwarzkopf blonde me and i'm going to be mixing that with 40 volume, peroxide 40 volume, as i've mentioned in the past. It is very strong and definitely don't work with 40 volume unless you've done some research or you know what you're doing so, i'm going to be applying 40 only to my brown areas. So that means i'm not going to overlap anything. That'S already blonde another thing to keep in mind is a little goes, a long way. As you can see, i already have a blonde balayage, so when you already have some highlights or some blonding in your hair, just keep in mind a lot, a lot goes a little goes a long way. So my plan is to add a few baby lights through the top one or two panels kind of in the back here, so that when i wear my hair up, that looks nice and bright, so i'm actually going to start in the underneath pieces. So since i am going to just do a whole slice, meaning i'm not going to weave out pieces, i always think in this area to get good impact. It'S kind of good to just do a slice and then to do a root tap to soften kind of that root. So it doesn't look like just a big block, but very important is to have the that hair section be thin enough to where it's almost transparent. Okay, i'm going to do two back to back sections like so and now coming around my hairline, i like to do diagonal partings this way. It'S what looks the best when the hair moves and is pulled back, so just small slicing there. So is so the next section i'm going into is where i would start if this is your first time kind of touching up your hair, and that is just to add some baby lights kind of in through here. It'S where it's going to give us our maximum lightness. So i like working off the part because i like to envision where those pieces are going to fall and then in between that section, i'm going to leave out the tiniest amount of hair. This gives a little bit of contrast and just going in and weaving in some highlights and basically the same thing we just did on the previous foil and then for the back. I always get asked how, in the world you get the back, so the best way is to pull it up. So you have a very clear view of what you're working with grab out your sectioning and then, instead of what intuitively you want to do is kind of paint backwards, you're actually going to grab the foil and place it on top and bring it forward. So you can still see what you're doing, but because you are over directing the hair, that hair will have a lot of movement um as it lays back where it's meant to lay so it'll look really soft. Actually you could do one to two of these panels. Kind of in the back i feel like for me this is enough. I do like a more contrasty look as you move towards the back of the head, all right and we're all set. So now i'm just going to let this process for about 45. At 250 minutes i'm going to shampoo and condition my hair and then we'll be back here for toner and the root tap all right, so i've shampooed out my hair, i feel like i am looking like a tic toc queen with my bright yellow money piece in Front so yeah, i'm gon na first go in with my root tap formula and for that formula, i'm going to be mixing a mix of 7n and the shades eq processing solution, one ounce of each and so starting at the part, i'm just going to start dabbing. Basically, as far down as you want to come, but i'm just going down about one inch if those lightened areas that you've created are kind of more piecey, maybe you don't have to go down as far i just really like that smoked out look, and so we're Just going to do this through out the hair and then to our slice that we've created in the back here, definitely making sure to soften that and do the exact same thing to the sun. Since i did that pretty quickly, i can just go in and start on. My all over toner, you guys have heard me talk about the 09p. It'S one of my favorite shades to tone blondes. So i'm going to be mixing one ounce of that with one ounce of the shades eq all right. So now i've got my toner formula. I typically like to leave the money pieces, and that doesn't mean just this one here. That means the closest to the face piece is kind of out of the way, and i like to tone these last so i'm starting in the back and the goal is just to get it on as quickly but also as effectively as possible, meaning even saturation. You can do this with gloves, but making sure to really massage the product into the hair so now moving our way forward, the overstarting at the top, and if you still have that root tap, it's okay, if they touch and now the last step is these ends. So i kind of only like to leave the toner on these last ends like two to five minutes. As i've mentioned, i do like a really bright look there and the ends just tend to be a lot more porous, meaning that they will absorb that toner. A lot faster, all right, so now i'm going to process that for about 15 minutes and then i'll meet you back here for the final reveal, so your hair care following your color, is as important as the correct formulation. I love to use the biologe hydrosource line to both add a ton of hydration and keep my hair looking healthy and feeling soft after i color and lighten my hair, i love to start with the luscious hydrosource shampoo. It effectively cleanses and nourishes my hair and, of course, following that, with the hydrosource conditioner to further the hydration, and once i'm out the shower, i like to follow with the appropriate hair care and styling products. I love that biologist hydrosource line is complete from shampoo to style. Not only that, but i love that biologe has a huge library of amazing products for all your hair needs, so to try out biolog for yourself check out hair.com, and you can use my code here for your discount all right guys - and here is the final result. So so much lighter and bouncier anyway. I hope this video has inspired you to maybe try something new or maybe made you curious about one of the products that i've used here and maybe found something that you would like to incorporate into your hair color routine. In the future, alright guys, thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoy this and i'll see you in the next one bye guys you

Pixievette: Your hair really grew a lot from the last time you got your haircut. Lots of root growth that’s awesome. I enjoy these vids on you retouching your hair. I tend to mess up something trying to get the right color.

Carrie Young: Question for all the hairstylists out there… I recently got “caramel” highlights that came out a bit too light and warmer than I would like. They were supposed to end up more of a reddish brown, and it came out more of a golden dark blonde. Can I tone to make it more cool? Or color over it with a cool toned brown? Thanks ❤️

Gigi G: I have been watching your videos for a while now and decided to leave a positive comment that will hopefully inspire others to try this at home. Because it works! For reference, I’m a natural brunette with long voluminous hair. I had the balayage done a few years back and paid $350 to get my hair so damaged I had to do a long Bob. Because of covid, not being able to go back to the salon, I found myself experimenting at home. First mistake I made, I tried henna. I KNOW!!! Trying to go down the healthy route, BUT, I’m past my 30’s with grays on my sideburns and dark tones just makes me look older. SO, I decided to gradually get rid of the henna by getting regular trims, doing clarifying shampoos and color correcting at the salon to get the green/blue tones off. As you all know, these color correction sessions can get very pricey. Now that I only have 2-3 inches left of the henna (green/blue tones) left at the ends, I headed to a Sally store and bought “Quick Blue bleach by L’Oréal with 30 developer and did a few strands of baby lights, keeping a slide in between and weaving the second slide I bleached, not touching the roots at all, a couple in the back for when I pick up the hair, a few at the crown on both sides for parting in the middle, and a few up front diagonally for framing the face. I left it for about 30 minutes to get a light honey color. Washed the hair and blow dried the roots. I followed up with AGEbeautiful 7A with 20 developer for a root touch up, waited about 30 minutes and added Wella’s T18 mixed with the T27 and 20 developer to the entire hair and waited about 20 minutes then washed and did a deep conditioning treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results! The colors blended beautifully, no brassiness on the root or mid shaft sections, and small amount of very pale bluish on the ends from the old henna. I let it air dry about 50% (to minimize damage) then gently blow dried and cut about an inch off. I only spent $37 of product and still have bleach, toner and developer left!!! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, very educational and helpful!

FY Hussain: She is the best out there and I have watched many. And her talking is not annoying like other youtubers who do hair videos. She is awesome.

Hart House : I have been a hair colour specialist for 32 years and I was ready to be “what in the fresh hell is this”. You did such a beautiful job explaining step by step how to achieve this look. I know for a fact that’s there’s so many factors with hair colour and I hope your subscribers take advantage of your consults during this weird time. I have had to fix a lot of COVID lockdown hair where I am from. No judgement on my clients, it’s been hard staying at home.

Me Totme: To be honest you gave me the confidence and skill to do my own highlights! I became better and better with time but now I am at a professional level, actually, I like it better when I do it myself the only bit I cannot get right yet is the toning but it is probably because of the product I use. Thank you for everything anyway.

Flower: It's beautiful!! I love the darker shadows and length. Looks so natural.

Kate45: You are my hero! How on earth do you do your own highlights? I know I saw you do it, but I am still AMAZED! You are just lovely and so talented!

Karen Kroplinski: Excellent video! I also appreciate your honesty in both your hair and your approach to coloring it. It would have been a little better if you would have shown/instructed viewers to take each highlight foil out separately before rinsing instead of sliding them off all at once through your hair because unfortunately this is how some stylists do it to either save time or are lazy and it can cause damage. I used to have my hair colored a bright, buttery blonde, but have since let it grow out to an extremely long "classic" length brown. No extensions needed! I am much happier and my hair is much healthier.

Coldplayfreak12: Your hair looks gorgeous!! Love your tutorials!!

Alice Porter: Your timing could not have been better! I've got a touch up planned tomorrow!!! Such great tips, your hair is beautiful

Sarah B: I have a question.... how long does it take for your natural hair to grow out? I want to get my hair balayage but I was trying to wait until all my color was gone. I would say it’s been at least 2 years since I have dyed my hair. Thanks for all you informative videos!!

EnglishPlan: Always follow you, as you give the most useful tips. My hair has improved a lot since I started following you. You and your hair look great!

Michele Spontak: I've been studying this every day for a month. I don't want to miss a thing because I want to get started on this look. And, I don't get sold very easily. It looks very nice. Very good work and information.

Tracey Lynn: Beautiful blonde!! love the blondeme bleach! Thanks for showing the whole process

Stephanie C: Your hair looks excellent!! I love it. Makes me want to go blonde.

Marcia Pellegrino: I am somewhat new to your channel. I want to say to you. I so appreciate your videos. This one in particular. I followed your steps and absolutely love love love my hair! Thank you so much for making these videos avail to the public at to no cost...as my lifestyle has changed dramatically since a divorce complicated by Co-vid19. I can no longer afford to pay a salon the $300.00 + as in the past. I am not complaining, I'm bragging! lol... as I think that with your step by step instruction my hair looks better than ever before! Sylvia, (until moments ago I thought your name was Elle Bangs...I thought, what a coincidence!) you are stunning beautiful, inside out! Thank you again!

kittykittysoftpaws: Silvia You make the foil application look sooo easy! I have tried before on myself and is not, your application look as flawless as id someone else was doing it on you. About the tape extensions, is there a particular brand you can recommend? Do you normally bleach them and tone them to match your existing highlights? Thank you so much, was a great video!

madalina manolea: Absolutely gorgeous!! maybe sometime you could also show us the haircut method, it looks so good with so much volume and this is what I’m looking for too.. thank you for sharing all these, so useful xx

Amanda 1: I love your colour and placement/thickness of your highlights! Great video. I'm hoping to ask my hair stylist can do this for me next visit.

Brittany Thomas: So I did this and it turned out great!!! Some key things..my natural color is a level 5/6 so dirty blonde..My ends were already very blonde from getting highlights over the years. 1. I bought 40vol processing solution, after researching I found that b/c I’m already a dirty blonde I would need 20vol processing solution. So I diluted my 40vol to make 20vol.. 1part distilled water to 1 part 40vol. 2. Thin sections when highlighting is key so you don’t end up with patches here and there. 3. I completely foiled and then let it process for 30-35min checking and pulling out foils that looked done. My hair is on the thick side so I had around 10-15 foils 4. I let my root tap process for about 10min and my toner process for 4-5min. This was my first time ever doing my own hair and I was so hesitant but I practiced on some bottom sections a day or two before I did the top. I’m not a hairdresser at all and was scared but the results were so amazing!!

cheerinchic07: Did this today, except the gray coverage, Love it!!! Thanks so much!

jackie presnell: This tutorial helped me slay my hair ♡ thank you

adi oremor: I just love how you explain and break things down. I wish I could afford you and take that 3hr drive. I can't so I'll do it myself. Thankyou soooo soooo mutch for your tutorials .❤❤

Genesis Penado: Always have loved your videos, you are so good at what you do. You’re tutorials are the best

Shannell McDonough: Amazing hair tutorial!!!! Thank you so much!

Janelle Nevarez Gomez: You inspired me to stop doing a full bleach retouch and do a more natural look. I now am going for a balyage with shadow root to let my hair get a rest.

Maura Ronda: I would be such a mess doing those foils. You are so good at this. Definitely looks easier then when it’s done. Gorgeous.

Pia Padmore: Who are the 15 lost souls that gave this vid a thumbs down? This girl has some mad skills! So great! Beautiful hair!

k B: these neutrals tones suit you well, you look very coherent and you have lovely hair, as always :) sending love

Tatjana Thomas: When I'm lost on how to refresh my balayage and my roots, I come here for a refresher course. Thank you so much <3

joanne akerman: Hi I love your hair and the colours you do are amazing I always do my hair myself and put the foils in first then go in with the root colour as it’s quicker and your not overlapping with the blonde on the dark roots again . I don’t think I would get such a lovely bright blonde over freshly applied dark tint. That’s why I go in between the foils with the root tint altogether.

Valentina Salas: This is pure magic ! If I had to do my own highlights im sure I'll look like a leopard lol . But it was so amazing to watch! Your videos are my favorite i love it!

andreeac: This is literally the only video I found where someone does permanent colour on the roots + highlights … I have really dark roots naturally and it’s so hard to find a technique online since everyone just does root smudges with semi permanent dye which never lightens my roots so there’s always a contrast between the blonde and my root colour. Thanks for sharing this video and this method. ❤️❤️

Andrea: I love you’re hair the before and after both so gorgeous! You do no wrong beautiful ty for sharing

Tanya Norgaard: How long does the toner lasts? And how often do you tone it?

Jessica Lawhorn: I was wondering why you choose permanent color for your roots instead of a demi. In some of your previous videos you talked about shades EQ colors for roots. What factors can help me determine which is the better option for me? I have been using demi for my roots but I am starting to get greys that peek through pretty quickly. Would that be a reason to change to permanent? Wouldn't that make it harder to turn around and bleach it out right after for highlights? Can I still get bright highlights? Thanks.

Elizabeth Jager: Best diy I’ve seen definitely most realistic with her starting point and how she does those baby light foils. Turns out beautiful though. Looking forward to more videos

Heather Mutz: Hi there:) I was wondering why you used 40V? Does your hair normally lift red so you used a stronger developer? Thank you for all of your hard work! I have been having so much fun doing my friends hair from learning from you <3

Selina: Love the new look. As the salons are closed here in the UK it was very satisfying to watch! Hope to one day get in the chair with you!

Brittany L: Love these tutorials!

Daniela S.: Love your tips and tricks. Thank you. Could you also show the results in the back and underneath?

Karen K: Your hair literally looks amazing❤️❤️❤️. This was a great video and very informative step by step. I did a video consult with you last year. I live in NY. I asked you why my hair became curly all of the sudden and you were right it was thinning. have pituitary problems. It’s starting to shed a lot with washing. Do you think I can still color (I need to cover my grays) and have a few highlights? I figure as long as I don’t go to the root with the baby lights. Also, does Monat initially increase shedding? Thank you!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mike and Mom: Beautiful! It’s very rare for anyone to condone 40 vol dev, so I’m glad you think it’s okay. Love your videos!❤️

Lola Carter: can I ask how long you wait roughly between each time you colour your hair? I find my roots grow out very fast xx

Zita Jordan: Thank you for showing the extension removal. I have not been able to see this process anywhere! I am considering getting tape ins too. Your hair looks great by the way

Blonde Truther: All of her videos are great - but I think this is the best one!! Thanks.

JM Playlist Run 2: Wonderful job. Incredible work on the hair colour. TY for sharing.

arizonatumbleweeds: Ms. Ellebangs, this is my opinion, but I love the bayalage (not sure of spelling) look on you. Looks young and fresh, carefree. Thank you for doing all of your videos to help others with their hair care. :-) Tucson -- Librarian

Alicia Sanchez: Me encanta el talento de esta Dama!

breanna smith: you made this look so easy!

Ann Hacker: I hate having to do my own hair! I guess we know what’s best ❤️

Sonia Faiza Benchebana: Thanks so much for all you great professional advices , could please mention the ratios of the base color products ?

Devin & Tyffani Cox: Gorgeous. I’m wanting to go blonde again. I haven’t been blonde since high school when my amazing hair stylist used to do it. Now he’s big time and charges WAY too much for me to go to him. Cheaper to try this myself. So curious, what do you recommend for someone with dark hair like mine?

Debora Glazier: Oh my god this girl knows what she’s doing I wish she could do my hair!

Haley Sperbeck: I have been needing to do my hair for weeks, and I get everything set up and Back out, just because it's so hard doing the back with my carpel tunnel ...But this has Giving me MOTIVATION lol looks Great ❤

April Vercammen: When covering the roots, what is the ratio of the volume 20 to the colors? Also, for the babylights, the ratio of the volume 40 to the lightner? Thank you!

patrice murray: Loving this color fabulous job! I have just learn something today.

s mmg: You are soooooo talented!!! Your hair looks amazing!!! Actually it always does!!!

Kitty91: You make it seem so easy

Zhervera Shojaee: You make it look so easy! haha I do my own hair too, but it takes FOREVER lol maybe because I take a lot more sections, but still haha

The Bro’s Of NY: I’ve been waiting for an updated hair color. I love it!

yaso dhara: You're my hero. Amazing how you managed to do this yourself

Wendy: Very beautiful hair love the outcome would love to do my hair but it's so hard to do alone

Pamela Dobrick: would love a quick overview of your haircut. And really great job doing this yourself. I've done this for years and it can be challenging to put foils in your own hair!! lol. You are super patient...

Aa Aa: I also have balayage hair and I’m always scared to do a root touch up because I’m scared I might go a little into the blonde part of the hair You did it so seamless Should I do the same color you did And is it ok if I go a little into the balayage?

76 7: I like the shorter look it looks light and effortless, it has movement and style. I have thick wavy hair and cut it by myself, thining out, shortening and making the ends lighter! So now maybe color!

Business Australia: Hi Elle, love your videos. Quick question… I’m naturally a 7 with very fine hair. So wondering if using 10 vol developer with 8ab and will work to do my base colour or should I also add some 7n with the 8ab? If I leave a 10 vol developer on longer then the usual 20 mins (say 40 mins) will it develop more or should I be using 20 vol for usual 20 mins processing time to lift?? Would really love to hear your thoughts.

Anna M: you make it look so easy!!

Hicel Quinonez: I'm totally doing this. Wish me luck. Love your video!!!

Norma Jean: Your hair look great! Beautiful blonde with dimension.

lisap3.2: First time, watched tons of your videos, have to do highlights in 4 different sessions bc it takes me so long Still battling unwanted orangey warmth (using esalon root color and highlights). What brands of color do you like that is accessible?

Crystal Neel: Wondering why you switched from doing your roots in the first step from vertical parts to horizontal?? I like that the vertical parts causes the highlights to peak up & down more distinctly. Also I am a hair stylist & doing my own long hair can be a contorting act! Lol Also wondering am I the only one who finds that I have much more control over my highlights, baby lights & low lights by using a cap instead of foils?

Erin Garcia: Hello, what was your base color formula ratio of the 8AG and 6NN??

malikaballerina: Thank you for your excellent videos! I wanted to ask about using bleach over the base colour you put on - how come it doesn't make it go orange? I used to dye over my grey roots with dark dye (i'm naturally brunette) and then wanted to go blonde, but it always went orange...

Claire DeSabato: Love this! If you were to accidentally get brown hair dye on your blonde, what would you do? Thanks!!
