Well, hello, everybody! It is I that cats today we're doing my hair first step, take out the ponytail that you slept in last night and then make some weird faces of the camera. You'Re gon na want bowls bleach toner, you usually want temporary. I'Ve got permanent on hand, we're gon na want ten, twenty and thirty volume processing solution dogs. Please optional. You might also want to scale some gloves spoiling comb and a lot of hair ties. So if you got all that, did I go the first tool that you're going to want to reach, for? Is your foil comb you're, going to separate your hair into two sections, starting at the back of one ear? Continue the parts in the top of your head and back down to the opposite ear then look for the two points in your head, where the hairline recedes a bit and create a triangle shape, attaching it to the top point of your head that we sectioned out Earlier so go ahead and put that section into a ponytail and stick the remaining hair on either side of the section you just create it into a ponytail making sure to angle all three of them toward your face. Just don't do that! Okay! So now we're going to move to the back section, go ahead and separate it into two sections, starting at the top of right portion of your head and bringing the part all the way down to the bottom left, go ahead and put that top bit in a Clip and we're going to work on the bottom. Basically, gon na do the opposite of what we just did you'll be taking both new sections that you just created and separating each of them into two sections effectively. Creating four diamond shaped parts on the back of your head feel free to disregard the grunt out, undercut make sure that each of these ponytails is in the center of the diamond section you just created yet so the sectioning that you just did should resemble something like This feel free to get pretty Sassy's. Your hair doesn't usually look like this, then grab your cat milestone, grab your cat, all right, we're gon na mix up our first full of Lightner. The lightener that i'm using is one parts of two parts you want to take 10 grams of Lightner, 220 grams of the activators mix that to a creamy consistency, I'm using 20 volumes in the back and I'll be using a higher power for the front. That way, I lift evenly at this point start sectioning your pony tails out either horizontally or diagonally. The more of a dad know you give it's more natural. The blend is gon na look only put lighter on the areas that need to be listed. Try not to overlap any existing blonde. That'S already the color that you desire, there's no need to cause any more damage necessary sample, more Lightner, but this time I'm mixing up 30 volume is to the 20. This makes our new batch of Lightner stronger than the last, which means this hair will live faster and shouldn't have too much color difference between the back in the front and once you finish boiling all those sections you're looking pretty sexy now, while you're waiting for your Foils to process you might let your dog inside he's been out there for a while, I guess, while we're at it I'll show you Mila she's, my little half Stein nice kitten, and this right over here is CAI, Oh front-facing, camera, and over here we have my Fish Rubeus and his tank buddy Barnard, they're best friends, and this joyous animal over here is smoking, she's, very old and mad. Also, while you're processing don't forget to go check out point insertion. These guys are super funny and they've built a really really great community on YouTube. Oh hey! That'S me! You know you're done processing when your hair is a pale yellow at this point, you're ready to shampoo out the lightener. So the finished color with this isn't bad. But it's a little warm for me. So we ain't done yet so go ahead and grab your violet toner and your ten-volume mix those together to a creamy consistency, apply gloves, put this anywhere that we, just like that's gon na, be more of a yellow color. My ends are pretty icy already, so I don't need to put a toner on those and leave this on for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the desired outcome, go ahead and shampoo it out and you're done now. I did try this list on a couple mannequins and a client before I did it to myself. I'M pretty happy with the outcome, but there's a few lines that I'm gon na have to go back in and blur out, but I still think this is a great way to do a balayage and to change up your look a little bit. You can look super sultry or not. There'S tons of obvious dimension, which I love and it's super low-maintenance, just let your natural color be the top and balayage is needed. If anybody has any video suggestions and open to any makeup or hair related topics, just comment below think back:

Keith Beef: MY HAIR IS SUPER SASSY NOW, THANK NAT KAT

Kelsey Crim: I can't believe this actually worked and came out pretty good the whole time I had my hair in the foils I was like "please don't be a mistake"

Triggering Trolls: I've have watched over 100 videos, and finally find someone who's not condescending, loves animals, and knows what she's doing... did I mention she has the best personality out of the 100 videos I watched... well, she does. Thanks for the vid. I subbed and punched that like button. Nice job.!

Annika Hartman: Finally tried this after having watched this over and over. I was panicking the whole time I was doing it, but it turned out really nice!

StepOnMay: This worked sooo well for me!! I’m trying to get a blonde balayage but I have black hair so I have to do this process multiple times I can’t do the ponytails exactly the same each time I bleach my hair, but it’s definitely easier than trying to pick out all of the already lightened parts from my last session! 10/10 would recommend to a friend

Bethany Williams: Alrighty sweets! I was a cheap ass and didn’t get multiple levels of developer. I just got 30 and washed out the back before I washed out the front. It was awkward standing naked in the shower for fifteen extra minutes, but I made the best of it. Your way of doing Balayage is awesome!! You’d get a kick out of what I did. I didn’t want to foil and I wasn’t looking for super blonde.. so I just dipped my ponytails into the bleach mixture. I have a lot of hair too. What ended up happening was amazing. I had my natural color come through with the blonde and it looked like I had feathered the bleach instead of just dipping. Thanks for sharing!!!!

M. E.: It does actually work and the results look great! I used 30 Vol with a blonde dye (no bleach) and instead of painting the whole of the individual ponytails, I just combed out a few fine sections out of each of them for some subtle highlights. :)

Natascia Leonardis: Thank you so much! I've tried your technique and my hair looks amazing. Goodbye $400 hairdresser sessions! You're a gem x

Zzz Zzz: How many times did you foil & section on each pony tail? I'm tempted to try this out!

Deborah Anne: I watch this everytime I want to color my hair. I love this technique. I did it on my dark hair with red color and it was awesome.

Tatti Dorjan: Tried it after months of agonising! Close to perfect as I've ever had! (Much better than what I've paid crazy money for in the recent years at salons) - this is the only way I'm doing my hair from now on :)

Rachael Boiko: Thanks girl! This comes out great! And it is so fast. I always screw up highlights because it starts taking too long and I get impatient and sloppy. This will be my new go to!

IamOBVS: I've tried so many times to DIY a balayage with different techniques but it never worked, however, THIS really worked!! Thx!!!

Curlysue: Just wanted to let you know - your video made it to Germany ;). Tryed it yesterday with blondor wella and toner t11 and I am so so so so happy with the result! Been wanting to do that for years... Thanks so much for sharing.

Jesenia Rios: About a week ago I paid 200$ to get my hair like a blonde ombré look. But ended up with yellow blonde and brown patched hair. Watched this video said f*** it and bought everything. My hair looks Amazing! Wish I could post a before and after picture after I did this diy! It saved my life & money lol!

Dr Shelley Kaplar: Love this! I have curly blonde hair, so did rose gold (joico temp rose color) and lightened (10vol, bleach, and conditiiner combo) around my face. I’m excited with how this turned out! Thanks for your awesome instructions! (Also the pets are cool)

Wakemeinthesunlight: So, I've never tried to bleach my hair before. Your method worked really well for me even though I don't have much experience doing this kind of thing with my hair. I started with the front parts to give my hair a more face-framing look, being careful to avoid my roots until the very end. I pulled some sections closer to the root to meld the color together, and it turned out pretty good! Your positivity also helped a lot because I was so nervous to even try this. Thank you for sharing!!!

Martine: I did this today after work. I have middle blond hair. I used a box dye to get it "very ashblond". Well the box dye didn't turn out light ashblond. More light golden blond HOWEVER the balayage is PERFECT. Just perfect perfect perfect. I don't even mind that the colour is not what I wanted. It looks so incredibly natural. I have never done my hair at home but have gotten really nice ombre balayage in the past and this looks just as good. I have very fine low density hair, so with this method I only needed half of a box dye (hair 5cm longer than on my profile pic). So I later did a "second round" where I placed some specific highlights to give it even more dimension. I never comment on YouTube videos, but this just turned out a lot better than expected. I think people should know it didn't only work on you.

Kosara Golemshinska: I decided to try this with a lightening kit I bought and it worked great! I thought it would be much scarier; thanks for the great idea!! :)

Apolya: THANK YOU! I did this yesterday and it turned out pretty good! My hair were too long for the amount of product, that I estimated, but I finished last ponytails with a box dye and it didn't ruin anything:)

Rxose: I'm tooooo excited to try this!!! I feel like this technique is awesome for those of us who have previously lightened hair and are doing it ourselves, will prevent overlapping all that good stuff! Thank you for this video!!!

Rachel Colins: I tried this technique and it looks super professional.Thank you!

Rachelle Walters: THANK YOU for the pony tail tip! Great idea! That looks so much easier than what I've been trying to do, and will work really well for my hair needs

veganjulia: you look flawless and i love your sense of humor! ahh how i wish other videos were as compact, informative and straight to the point as yours!! using ponytails to self-balayage is a great idea, thanks!

♡Elly♡: I'm so trying this! You look absolutely STUNNING! I love your personality! Super fun! I'm subscribing!

Ryan J: This totally worked! I didn't tone long enough, so I will redo that tomorrow, but THANK YOU! I actually didnt have foils, so I just took 3 1/2 inch sections from each ponytail and highlighted those. It really worked!

Cynthia Hamil: Great video - great Balayage Short Cut with the Pony Tails! I haven't tried this yet, but really love the concept. I actually liked the yellow blonde on you, before you used the toner. The color that you want to shoot for is "honey blonde" because it is really flattering with a lot of warmer skin tones. Sometimes people take their hair too platinum, which is very aging... and makes your skin tone sometimes look too pink or white. People need to know if they are warm or cool. If a warm skin tone wears their hair too platinum - this can really age them. I like the shade you have, it works for you - but a lot of people are much warmer skin tone and can't wear their hair this platinum, without it looking too harsh and aging.

Heather Nicole: Love love it Just did for my daughter super easy and cute

Vince Avery: Aren’t you the smart little stylist ... I have been doing hair for over 35 years and have an incredible clientele , but I still learned from you ! Great job ! Especially doing it on yourself !

Erin Vittoria Music: I used this method to do an ombre orange-into-pink on my ends and it worked great. Thanks for this

Kayla Brewer: I LOVE YOUR TECHNIQUE!!!! It is so cool!! It reminds me of the cap method but its wayyy better than having to pull out all those strands!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!

AshleyArtsco: Lovely! I'm transitioning back to blonde but don't want dye my entire head bleach blonde so this is perfect! You're super cute and sweet too. Recently, I post mostly fashion and makeup type of videos but if that seems up your alley, check it out and let me know what you think <3 I'd really appreciate it. New sub and I'll be back on this when I do my next hair process haha

Twilight Princess: I also can't believe how you make this look BETTER than most professional hairdressers do for $200 !!

ChiChiConsuela: I have dark brown/black hair and I did this and it turned out amazing!!! Thank you!

Cassi Wingo: You're hilarious and just earned yourself a new subscriber! I'm going to try this tonight, I'm going to look so sexy with all this foil in my hair that I'm going to have to fight my husband off of me! X-D

Dayna Gonmechi: Ok I’ve tried so many different techniques to try to achieve a seamless ombré, and had trouble with every one of them. But THIS REALLY WORKED! I’m so ridiculously happy with the results, I can’t stop looking in the mirror lol. The one thing I did differently was when dividing each ponytail in half before adding color, I wove the separation instead of just a straight split in half. awesome vid, girl!

Judi Christopher: If I had not seen this with my own eyes... I would have never believed this could have been done... ... much less, come out so BEAUTIFUL... "You Go Girl"... Thank YOU for sharing this precious tutorial... Loved this video

Rosanna King: Wow! Love your technique!!! Looks really easy. Thanks for sharing!!! Your hair looks GREAT!!!

Tori Eichorn: Coming from another salon professional you’re a damn genius girl holy crap

julz: Did this and I LOVE IT! THANKS FOR THE GENIUS TUTORIAL

Cari Roorda: Omgosh you’re so cute! I love this! I’m doing it right now and going to be adding some baby lights when I’m done

F P: great video! just a few qs :) would this work for longer hair? my hair is up to my chest also, if I wanted to not have every strand lightened and keep some darker to add dimension, how would I do so? Would I just do the ponytail splitting and then in each ponytail just take some of the hair to lighten?

CichlidChic: I used this sectioning for highlights, a few panels per section, and it turned out great. Even color all over my head. I just pulled out the back foils early to let the front process, I don't go over 20 vol.

princesszelda: ohhh buddy, i gotta try this!! glad i found you before i started! went and bought everything i needed today and my hair is already pretty ombréd naturally and i would like to brighten it up. this looks so much less messy and complicated than so many videos i’ve watched. especially for someone doing their own head. thank you!!! you do have an amazing contagious, bright, personality and you are just as beautiful as your attitude!

AAA: Thank you for this. Going to try this on my short hair btw you're gorgeous!

Tamara Morton: I love this idea. You did a great job. I am a brunette and I just want some lighter Brown highlights so I guess I could tease some of those sections. Thank you so much! I would never have thought of using these elastics to divide the sections up on my own.

Michaela Godfrey: Seriously THANK YOU for this video, it literally just saved my hair

Maddy: I never write comments on youtube, but I am compelled to after this! I dont know what kind of magical hair wizard you are, but as an absolute novice at hair, somehow this turned out amazing on me I felt like I had no idea what I was doing, I couldnt see the back of my head properly and I only had a toothbrush to colour my hair with, but it looks like Ive spent hundreds at the salon thanks girl!

Georgette Sylvester: This is genius! Saturday night will be my night ti try this fun gorgeous easy watt at home! Thank you you wonderful girl you!

Kiwi & Peaches: This turned out gorgeous!!! I so want to try it. Did you do a video on the blending you were talking about?

Jane Smith: It would have been nice to see a split screen of before and after. Also, it would have been helpful to see the spots you needed to fix because many of us would probably run into the same issue. But all in all this was a great video and gave me a great idea for my own hair, so thank you!

ishka: Great video, great straightforward tips

FlaSun: I came here to see how to warm up my hair with toner instead of opposite, just use different products. Instead of doing what is in, it is wise to use your skin tone as a guide. I just spent hundreds of $$ to get an ashy tone that makes me look sick. (Asked for warm) It would be beautiful hair-on someone else! Older people often are not enhanced by this ashy thing going on. Entertaining and informative...Kat super cute personality (and great hair)!

Sherry Taylor-Reynolds: Girl You speak on a language that we laymen can understand. I could also listen to what sounds like a Southern accent All day long! I tried the pony tail balayage using your tutorial and had excellent results. Keep the videos coming. Thanks you so much!

Ashley Zemple: I honestly liked watching this video . It was better then what I seen in most videos an i like how u separated into sections it looked way easy

Luv: I'm so late on this vid but omg your personality is so cute. Love it and love you showing off your pets! Definitely going to try this method out to retouch my hair. :)

America Bless God: You did better than the stylists on here! Thank you! How do we make sure it's even (if you're doing a v-painting on each strand) on the back and the aluminum doesn't fall off!

wendoll gracias: Thank you so much, I love your method. My hair looks awesome!!!!!!!!. So HAPPY!!!!

trev mcdonald: tried this and im really happy with the result. might try using less ponytails at the back next time x

bexka bexkster: Will be giving this a try, so excited to try.

Turtle!: I'm going to try your method this week and I am Really looking forward to it!! It seems very simple and very low maintenance, which is exactly what I am looking for!! I will comment back with how it turns out!! Thanks Nat Kat!!!

krose Clarke: I have coloured my hair and bleached a million times. this looked like an easier method. so I tried it. omg it was soo hard to do. its processing now... I hope it's not a complete disaster

shrishti sinha: I might not even do this but it was so satisfying how clear and technical the directions were.

Layla Locke: I’m a hair stylist myself in the uk, I tried this technique on my self and I’m super impressed with the results there a couple of pieces I’ll need to weave highlight to blend a little better but so glad I came across your technique!! Balayage isn’t something your taught while training for your NVQ and this is the easier and fasted way I’ve come across to do it! Tried it on a few client in the salon in the week and they loved their results :)

Ahdyfe Autor: Wow! The color made you all the more gorgeous. Thanks for this video tutorial. God bless!

Naliel Rugeles: I LOVED IT SO MUCH JESUS I WILL TRY THIS TECHNIQUE SO MUCH!! you got a new subscriber btw!

james wright: I just finished up a little while ago I did the ponytail do... Looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

Hilary Solo: So I tried this and I left the dye on for to long and I'm not sure what happened or went wrong but i am now 100% platinum and should just stick to professionals but hey it was fun doing it and I pull off the blonde :)

Lucía R.E.: This best result I have ever seen, totally gorgeous. I wish I had found you sooner, before chemical burning my hair xD. But thanks for the video, I will apply your technique later in the year.

Rebecca Coddington: Really nice job on the hair, never seen this technique before.

Vane: Love this..if your working on darker levels, and trying to go blonde THIS will save you lots and lots of time!!!!. plus it will blend nicely..Great video

Daria Wanderlust: great video and interesting technique. When my stylist did ombre or balyage besides bleach she always put some color between the hair that was wrapped in foil.I believe it was to blend in natural color with bleached color.perhaps you could advise on that.

Raea Hood: this video was very entertaining and easy to follow. 10/10

Jess: I'm really impressed! I would never attempt to do this but ypur hair looks beautiful! ❤❤❤ Lots of patience lol

C Ekons: +Nat Kat that came out great! did you lighten all of the hair in each of those ponytails or did you skip some sections? It went so fast I couldn't tell

Doris: The hair parting really helped! Thanks! ❤

Jeanne Patrice Cuddy-Lamoree: Thank you for showing the sectioning so clearly.

Maria Feital: sou do Brazil, ficou linda. que cor vc passa na raiz ou e seu tom mesmo. qual a cor q vc usa depois da descolorante?? obrigada viu.

heyyitsash: This technique is really cool! May try this someday

Diana Gerhardt: Finally the way I want my hair.

Sarah Baudach: Wow love your hair and your balayage technic works very well :-)

handstampedbylee: Why pay someone else $200 to stuff up my hair when I can have all the fun.lol I recently went to a salon and asked for a blue balayage ( navy down to bright and denim coloured blues), stylist assures me she can get it close enough. My hair was brown roots balayage down to blonde. After 7 hours, the result is leprechaun green, not a blur hue in sight. She’s blaming my hair for the colour, she’s using every trick in the book to not be at fault. She says that’s as close as she can get and that’ll be $200. I looked liked I’d soaked my head in chlorine for a year. I went straight home and put a manic panic blue over it and it was liveable. I’m going to have a crack at it, I’ve got most of the supplies and at least if I screw it up it won’t cost me much to do it.

Jordyn Joy: I am going to try this, last time I just did sections of my one pony tail but this way I will get more root coverage, is it a 1:1 ratio for the toner? I loved your happy informative video

Adam𝓪𝓷𝓭I: From one stylist to anotha ... You’re the cutest thing ever I you !!

Amanda Roberson: I wish I could do my hair like that, myself.

Charis Cat // Child of an Android: Haha I liked this video :) I'm going to give this a go on making my crappy looking now grown out ombre a bit less 'stripy'

Caroline🦄: Loves it! So pretty!

mamicci2: I would call this Bombshell Victoria secret hair. I love how it turned out for you

Cassandra jean: When I started watching this, I thought oh man here we go another girl is gonna fuck up her hair. Im a professional and I'm glad to see that she is showing everyone how to do it correctly. Thank god

tima timone: Wow u make it look so easy that I'm attempting to do it

CJ Hundley: Hi! I have a question, I don’t know if you’re even still receiving them from this or not, but, I have no patience for brushing, usually I’ve always just blended it with my fingers and it’s worked but I was also doing my whole head into an ombré of red red into dark purple. Now it’s blonde again but dark blonde my root color, I had someone do highlights and called it an ombré. But it’s been two years now. Would this method work for me to blend with my fingers? And I don’t use bleach on my hair so would I be able to do a oil based lightener for this or would I HAVE to use bleach? Thank you!

Lpg 8: Very interesting technique, I'm not brave enough to do this but it came out very nice on you.

Holly XO: This looks so great!

Natalie: Are you KIDDING ME?!? you make this look so easy

samrasimplicity: You're so adorable & your animals. The different strength of product in the front and back , I didn't even think of that. I want to try this sectioning off with a product that contains H2O2 and Lemon, in hopes of doing less damage and a more sun kissed look. I will have to walk around with the pony tails and see how it goes. Thank you.

Wendy Wywrot - Astrology and Tarot Coach: your hair turned out super pretty ! :)

elaine maestas: I did this and it was (is) awesome! Maybe do a tutorial on "blurring" the colors out a bit at some point.

Paige Patton Hargis HAMMERZIPPY: I have been researching how to highlight my own hair bayalage style, I am seeing the same trend over and over, these days No one wants ANY yellow or brass, I get it, but it’s gone so far on the other side of the spectrum with all these Wella Ashe toners , the blondes are now grey blondes, it doesn’t look sun kissed. Pretty, but not for the me the older generation. Imo

T VB: Thank you so much! I had a Caramel balayage because my own hair is black. And it takes a while to make it lighter. And i didn't want to spend more money to get somebody else doing it. And i didnt no how to do it and dont messed up. So you are the best!

Jeslyn Tan: Looking forward to trying these method out ! Thank u for sharing !
