Hey naturally says welcome back to my channel, I'm Nia hope and if you're new here or you're not subscribed, make sure you hit the subscribe button down below so today I am super super excited to be filming. This video, you guys, have no idea how long I've been waiting for like a challenge like tutorial to come to the natural hair world. This originally started with the beauty gurus of YouTube, and as soon as I saw it, I was like yes there's. Finally, like a challenge on YouTube - that's like in the beauty realm, but it's transferable to the hair world that I kind of am in on YouTube. So as soon as I saw this, I was like okay, who would I copy so I was trying to think and instantly after that Jalen Magette came to mind if you've watched, Jayla's, tutorials and you're, like kind of like new to watching her videos. You now know she has this like long, luscious hair, but when she first started out on YouTube, she had a super short cut. Like mine, I went back to her old videos and I found one for short natural hair that I could basically try to try out here on camera and I'm so excited so without further ado, let's just jump into her video alright. So, let's go over everything that she plans on using in this hair tutorial she's going to be using eco styler gel. This is a favorite I actually ran out of myself just went out and bought this new jar and look at this with the flip top. I'M actually filling that right now, she's using that she made a homemade spray, I'm not using the one she's using I'm gon na use my DIY leave-in conditioner with aloe vera and rosemary. If you guys want to see the DIY tutorial for that, I will link it below. So I'm using that she's using Carol's daughter's black vanilla, I believe some type of like holding edge control thing. I could not find that at the store. So I just got this Garnier Fructis pure clean, finishing paste, and it says it has extra strength hold on it. I'Ve never used this before it's a; hopefully it does its job she's. Also using Vaseline Nasus. There'S lots of things I could say about this, but I'm most nervous about using this right here. The last thing she goes in with is an olive oil. Here she instead, I will be using just some trusty dusty olive oil right here, alright, so now that we have everything that we need to recreate this style, let's see what she does next, okay, so now she's going in with her leave-in conditioner. If he has a snare like a little baby, froude now, y'all see this link okay anyway, she's going in with her leave in conditioner, I'm going in with mine and she's just spraying it everywhere. So I'm gon na spray mine everywhere as well. Now I'm gon na take the Vaseline. My dad actually told me about this trick because we got the same hair. So I said why not use it any work. Okay pause right here for a second, this girl got some Vaseline in her hair and I really don't know how to feel about this. I'Ve. Never in my life put Vaseline in my hair, like the only time I would do it was when I was getting perms like back in the day you have to like get your edges before you put the relaxer in, but never like to coat my hair, and I'M actually really nervous about this part um, so I'm just gon na go in here. She doesn't really show how much, but it definitely looks like it's enough to cool her whole entire head of hairs. Okay, okay, it doesn't feel as weird as I thought it would feel. I'M not really sure what this does. She doesn't explain it other than saying that her dad taught her this trick, so I'm not really sure what it will do for this hairstyle. You guys. Oh, my gosh, like my hair, looks okay, that's done! I'M gon na take some eco got some eco, we're gon na massage that into I feel, like I have so much product like a heavy product in my hair right now. This is crazy. Does my hair look like hers, yet no, it looks crazy. Okay, so she's put the eco styler gel in her hair and she's begun so brush it down, but let's just begin to brush it down. Oh, my hair is like trying to split down her. Isn'T that slick? Am i doing something wrong? I don't know um there's a lot of things happening here that I feel like should not be happening. Oh wow, her hair isn't this slicked down, but we also have like two different textures of hair, like her hair is definitely thicker than mine and she also has a looser curl. So I'm assuming that's, why, like this, is coming out a little bit differently, or maybe I used too much eco styler gel, I'm not really sure. Okay, let's move on what does she do next? Okay, let's try to make this part that she's making! I don't even know if my hair is long enough to make a part, but we bout to find out. Oh snaps, in my part, length parting links. I might have parting link here now. Oh cool. This looks like trash, but then I'm gon na take the Carol's Daughter, pest control and I'm gon na put that in the part to kind of make you stay, but that's good. Okay! So now I'm gon na go. She went in with the Carol's Daughter, I'm gon na go in with this, since I don't have Carol's, Daughter and kind of secure this part, so she like puts it on either side of the part and kind of like massages it in oh yeah. That definitely looks secure. It'S a nice little holding Joe I'm gon na go in with a brush to kind of make sure my part stays how it needs to be okay, so girl. Let me tell you about he's baby here back in this, for the edges: okay, edge control on edges check, so we're gon na put this edge control on the edges just like she did, and she went back in to reinforce her part like again. But mine is pretty much holding right where it should be, so I'm not gon na worry about mine. I'M just gon na focus on getting this product into my edges for right now and then I'm gon na take that toothbrush and this counter action butshe important. I guess the major key it's important, it's probably like the most important, so she's not doing like the swoop edges, she's doing like edges that curl one way and then curl the other way. So I might attempt to do this. I'Ve never attempted to do something like this to my hair with my edges. So, let's get one okay, I think our first one swooped in right, so we're gon na smooth that one in and swoop that one in the other direction: okay, okay, I'm gon na - do something right there. I think it's working. Okay, come through edges and we're just gon na continue to do this, just like Julie. Did it okay. At this point, I think my edges are about as swayed as they're gon na get. So, let's move on to the next step and see what she does more Joe Jesus yeah. That'S a lot of Joe okay. Okay, we brush in brushing I'm scared to brush cuz. It gets too slick when I brush it, because there's so much freakin product, okay, you'll see how mine, like slicks down person, look at myself with this. That'S what happens when you have two different textures in here like it responds to products differently. So I'm not gon na do too much brushing I'm just gon na use my hands. Instead, if I press down it just slicks out - and I don't want that - because her hair is definitely not doing that - I needed to like maintain this texture, but let's see what she does now: okay, she's going in with the oil sheen. Now, as I said, I don't have that I'm gon na use extra virgin olive oil, so I have a nice healthy amount of oil here, seeing as she's a whole lot of will in her clip, and I'm just gon na rub this in my hands. Y'All can't really see, but y'all can see the grease right and I'm just gon na like pet this over my hair, all right, so my hair is oiled successfully. Now, let's see what happens next man I swear, the scarf makes the whole look. It just lays everything down so flat in it. You should, and usually I put my scarf on and then I'm gon na do something leave it on there for like an hour, maybe like clean or cook, or something and I'll leave it on and then I'll take it off. Whenever I'm ready to go so - and so sometimes it stays up there for hours at a time, but I always put it on the evenness forefront, even if it's only for five minutes. Okay, so she said she lets to sit for at least five minutes or wait longer. I think I'm gon na let mine sit for like 30 minutes and then I will be right. Back. Okay, naturally says so I am back and this is like the moment of truth. I cannot wait to see what the final look is. Gon na look like, I hope it looks bomb like as good as Jayla's hair looks when she was done. So, let's see her results first hold on. Let'S see what my hair looks like now, you guys ready for this. I'M like I'm nervous and excited at the same time, to see what's happening into here moment of truth moment of truth. You know what it must have been something in there. Vaseline ah lie here, is actually super soft right now and that actually not thinking about that actually might have been with the Vaseline. Did it like stops the ecostyler gel from being super hard and crunchy, because that's what I was expecting to feel like a lot of crunchiness and hardness, but it's actually really soft. I don't want to disturb it. I know she crushes hers out. I'M not gon na brush mine out, because y'all have already seen when I brush and when she brushes her hair does two completely different things, and I don't want to destroy the texture because, like her hair is so very textured after this, and I don't want to Like take that away from this final product by trying to brush it in possibly getting that slick, look that I kept getting that I don't want, but overall I like this, so yeah now, I'm dying to know have you guys tried my short natural hair styling tutorials? Have you tried other people, natural, hair, styling tutorials, and did they come out the same way for you, as I did for the youtuber that you are watching yes or no like? What'S your success rate like most of the time, works out or most the time it's like not like it just doesn't work for you. I want to know your stories comment below. Thank you so much for watching if you're not subscribed, make sure you hit that subscribe button and stay tuned for my next video bye. You

Priscilla Martin: Lol as a Jamaican, we use Vaseline as hair oil all the time so the fact that you guys don't is weird to me. Gorgeous nevertheless

Mr. Grieves: I’m not a woman and I’m not black but I saw this on one of YT’s Top 10 lists and just watched the whole thing. It was mesmerizing. And your hair came out damn good.

Dani's Life: Old school blue magic was nothing more than dyed Vaseline

Crackmy Contour: You're absolutely gorgeous and funny! I'm a white girl with waist long damaged hair with a bit of curl, and I'm binge-watching you today and learning so much. I mention my race bc even if I can't apply your tips to my hair, it's inspiring me to get out of my depression and take better care of myself as I'm a crying mess. You have a unique gift in front of the camera, I've been in media for over twenty years...your delivery is perfect on camera.

Lisa Tutler-Jones: Youngstahs - back in the day, when we sat on the stoop and did twist outs and cornrows for free, we used blue magic, royal crown, baseline, etc and our hair grew!! This turned out nice Nia! That seemed like a lot of Vaseline but I guess it worked. You are lovely sis. Thanks for being our guinea chica!

SistahRev: This vid was TOO hilariously delightful!! SOME (not all!) of my fave moments: your humorously nervous approach to using Vaseline in your hair (and you bravely taking the plunge anyway for the sake of science LOL!!); Jaelah’s “OK, so, Girl, lemme tell you ‘bout these baby hairs!”; and you saying “At this point my edges are as slayed as they’re gonna get, so let me move on...”. This was DEF fun to watch!! LOVE your energy & honesty. Keep up the wonderful work !!!

Salsadivva: I tried this style this morning and got compliments on it! One lady came up to me and asked for my barber's phone number! I did this style in a rush, so the scarf stayed on about 10 minutes. I didn't have vaseline so I used Isoplus's Castor oil hair & scalp conditioner. I also didn't have Garnier Fructis Edge Control so I used Murray's Loc-Lock gel. The style for me turned out pretty well!

Tshepi Al-jazazi: Firstly; I’ve gotta say how gorgeous you are and I love the way you presented that entire video. I was smiling throughout and giggling in between you’re a beautiful soul. I’m a black South African woman (with short natural hair) and Vaseline is a must have in every black house hold; used for absolutely every part of your body, yes including the hair lol. It’s a lip balm, body moisturizer and hair “softener” as we have courser-textured hair. A small comb like the one you use right in the beginning wouldn’t even go through our natural hair without the help of water and Vaseline lol. Having said that though I’m going to try this hair-greasing (yep that’s a lot of products that went into that) Wish me luck with the edge-control part

Yolanda Darnell: The one thing we forget is moisture BEFORE styling gel. It is essential so I'm glad you both emphasized that.

The Culture Counselor: You are me! trying to follow these tutorials hahaha We have a similar hair type. Fine 4a/4b coils and ringlets. Won't really hold a curl like a twistout or anything but it will slick down with just a dab of gel. I just big chopped my hair for the third time, going to let it grow long this time. Excited to follow you on your journey.

She'Myia Malone: I would definitely love more hair tutorials like this.

wanda j: Wow this look looks sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good on her and you!! I may try this one-day. I need to get my make up skills together cause that make the hairstyle look even better

DesirableNAP: I colored my hair watching one of your tutorials and it came out perfect and bomb! Thanks for sharing.

DeAnn McCollum: I just want to thank you and the others who provide the tutorials...I chopped my hair off last winter and didn't know how to manage it... I'm in love with Cantu products and I have noticed that the Black Jamaican Castor oil mixed with Tea Tree oil has truly grown my hair in the last two months...thanks again...

Lee: I love this video ! having short hair and trying to make it style worthy is so hard sometimes lol

Diamond Diamond: Yes I love it! I’m gonna let my hair grow out soon, so I’ll be trying this too ✨

࿐ꨄSwnsasyꨄ࿐: It looks great on you! You're absolutely stunning!!

Juanly Ramirez: This was a fun video, you had me laughing girlll I did this hair style yesterday after I watch the video a few nights ago and it came out GREAT I loved it. Thanks, you should do more videos like this. New sub

NailedBy Joi: My family used Vaseline as “grease” for my hair when I was a child I thought it was like that for everyone but ig not

Mildred Baxter: Thank you, I am at my one year anniversary of natural. I have never used Vaseline before but I will shampoo my hair on Monday and give you my feedback. I think the Vaseline will stop the eco styling gel from drying out so fast. I love your tutorial. You Rock. That style is so cute on you. Thank you for sharing. My hair was just like yours when I first started out. I can used 1/2 inch flat iron and show off the Pixie. lol

154angel154: Hey Nia! We are at the same exact length as we buzz cut at the same time. We also have VERY similar hair textures! I currently have my scarf on and followed the vid to a "T!!!" When I remove my scarf, I hope my hair looks as beautiful and yours and Jaelah's does!!! ETA my hair looks BEAUTIFUL NIA!!! I will be sticking with this process until my hair is to long for this! Curls and waves EVERYWHERE!!!

Tiana: I have been watching her from her big chop really inspiring ❤️.your hair came out beautiful

Madison Torres: I was recommended to Zala from a hair dresser and their Instagram and website had amazing photos and tutorials. My package was express shipped and arrived to me in 2 days!!! I was so excited and ran home to collect it not knowing what to expect. The packaging was amazing, so over and beyond. It even came with a box for me to store my hair and shampoo and conditioner for my hair which I didn’t even expect. Other then that the quality is amazing and it’s actually the perfect colour match. Going to be telling all my friends about this, so happy!!

Ms A: Girl you can get your life with Vaseline, it keeps your hair and scalp from drying out. I love the look I think I will try and style my hair like that it's fresh.

Strut Glam Lane: I tried to do a laid wavy look, I forget which Youtuber it was from. But my hair was way too curly so instead of getting large waves, I got little tiny waves and my hair wouldn't stay down :( Yours turned out pretty good though lol !

Ari and Ela: I haven’t put Vaseline in my hair in yearsssss love this haha! ❤️

Antiyanna Hall: I always use Vaseline!! For my whole entire body and hair and scalp

Mere K: Thank you for sharing this video, gives me hope on different ways to style my natural hair after the big chop.

Shaunice B: Yes please, do the slick look tutorial girl! Good job, loove this video!!

Arek: I can’t get over how pretty you are!!! Ugh I’m so jealous! Your eyes are just gorgeous!

Adriana Lopez: I like your hair, the chop looks gorgeous on you!❤

6153calme: When doing these natural hair journies one needs to consider, their family background also, each person's hair grows at different rates etc, one could have had thick/full hair in the beginning. Vaseline, that's all I use, that's basically all I've ever used (it smooths the hair, helps it stay flat), always been natural, never had a perm etc. Your look marvelous with short hair , you are rocking that do, some people look good no matter what style they have.

Yolanda Hatcher: I LOVVVVVVE these videos!!!... At least I know I'm not alone when following turtorials.... I'm hollering @the Vaseline white mask... This was GREAT-

Kay Rock: I tried you're slick twa and it came out gorgeous. Following step by step on hair styles is very cool thank you from me to u

Erica: OMG I loooveeeed watching your video!!! You are so funny and such a joy too watch! I will try this method on my hair. You’ve inspired me‼️

Steph J: I did this with you. It was like magic!!! Thank you and Jaleh I should have known this. I totally forgot. I'm 48ish totally forgot about the vaseline. Thanks for sharing. ♥️☺️

Brown Suga Queen 👑: Vaseline really works. If you have thin hair it will definitely thicken it up

Keziah Kez: Makes me wanna do the big chop!

Xxxtentacion Babe: You are gorgeous btw this tutorial was hilarious first time watching you, I had to subscribe Also it's not just the texture it's the density your density is fine and hers is medium

Alitha Smith: Chile back in the day we used Vaseline in our hair and my hair was down my back! So you good sis!

Gavatron Ldn: i don't know how or why this vid came up in my suggestions BUT!!!! As a British born male of Caribbean (Jamaican) heritage....... Vaseline was always and continues to be, in the house! - Vaseline was used for the following.... a backup "hair grease", Elbow Cream, Knee Cream, Foot (Heel Back) cream, Lip Balm, Hand Cream, Face Cream (In the winter), Shoe Shine for black school shoes, Mixed with Vicks Vapour rub and "Bay Rum" for your chest when sick, To reduce the welts on your skin after you get beaten LMAO! The list goes on..... haha

Lyd Y: i liked the curl pattern/ texture of your hair at the final end. it makes me want to shave my hair and do this!

Eleanor Rose🥀: Thank you for inspiring me to do my big chop

Miss Adkins: Vaseline and blue magic is pretty much the same thing. I'm 36 years old and that's what we use when I was a kid. Also the Sideburn baby hairstyle that you were doing is what I like to call the Betty Boop baby hairs.

Memoir Young: When I was a child we did not use a lot of products in our hair. We washed it twice a month and greased our hair with blue magic or vaseline (depending on what money looked like) we all had healthy thick natural hair. Just got mine shaved off Wednesday because of damage over the years from perms, bleaching....etc. great video!

Shericka Dyer: This is so adorable. I am trying this today!!!!

Angel Fenwick: Vaseline was my go to to replace hair grease if I was out when I was in high school lol. It adds a lot of sheen but is really heavy

Cathy White: She is sooo adorable, sooo cute. I have watched this video a few times. I have a full smile. I love Nia. Thanks, for being you. And oh, like others, I grew up in the islands. Vaseline was the sheen.. I think it grew our hair. Lol

Krystina Davidson: OMG! My mom used to oil my scalp with Vaseline!

Carmen Metzger: beautiful hairtutorial!! <3 loved it ^^ your the most beautiful woman! love your vids there easy to follow and fun to watch! I personally only shop with ZALA hair extensions, refuse to go anywhere else to get my hair on FLEEK

Tiffinie Styles: The commentary had me dying it came out so cute. I’m going to try as soon as it’s over

funmi bukola: Been trying alot of tutorials for my short hair this morning but I think yours did the trick

Ms. Ferry: As a St. Maarten/Haitian I still use vaseline in my hair. It works for my hair.

Melody Mathews: My grandmother used to put Vaseline in my hair when she did my hair and my aunts hair. And are here used to grow like crazy. I think I'm about to buy me a bottle of Vaseline.

Ncebakazi Fiko: Lol I laughed throughout this entire video, girl u funny especially on that Vaseline part, love the hair it came out perfect.

FeliciaMarieTV: This turned out so cute! That Vaseline did some work LOL

ItsKiana: Still so pretty! I just cut all my hair off and now looking for other ideas on how to style my hair

Lovenia Butler: I tried this. AND IT WORKS FOR MY HAIR!!! I'm so excited. Because my hair was dry and frizzy. It takes all that away. I love my short hair cut styles. I can get up and go. I even wore a hat( gurl....it was cold outside. Lol). Met peeps at a restaurant took my hat off....honey I received nothing but compliments. And my hair is soft. Not hard and brittle. No more frizzies. Thank you thank you.

Betty Spencer: Your being nervous, nieve and afraid was understandably funny when it came to Vaseline; but, you can use this as a very important learning tool for your own videos! Neither you or jaelah knew the purpose of it. She only used it because her dad told her to! I am in my 60's and me and my 8 sisters where raised on Ivory Soap to wash, Vaseline as a scalp conditioner and Royal Crown hair grease as a lock in moisturizer! But you ladies are young! I said all of that to say this; the same way you felt about what Jaelan was saying, is the same way we feel about following your videos! Explain everything you're doing and why! Also keep in mind; Vaseiline and a nightly scalp massage cost $1.99 and last 6-7 months. How much does your scalp massage oil cost for a 30 day supply? No shade! I respect the hustle and your willingness to give someone else a shoutout! That's what makes you special!

Lyguria Stubbs: you are HILARIOUS!! Love your personality and the hair was super cute!!

Zechariah 4:6: Justin's for dealing with that sticky feeling that the hair has after putting in all these products. I have tried a leave-in and a jail, I'll leave in Adele and a butter I'm trying to keep it to a minimum but also make sure the curls are defined and shiny. I have 4C hair. I'm enjoying my new entry into the natural world but all of this sticky feeling I cannot handle - any suggestions?

Kallen Briana: i love the way your hair came out! i was nervous at first for you lol, but it came out good!

Angels Live: OMG Vaseline is the boom I love it Back in the days wen I was at school all my family used Vaseline and we all have thick long health hair. But now as an adult I have bad hair so I have just gone back to using Vaseline mix with other oils. It’s cheap an good to use as a back up and holds hair well and soften your hair. Thumbs Up for Vaseline xx

Rosiane Figueiredo: Vídeo super descontraído. Amei ❤❤

Vampira Alien: Love it! I love all your vids & you're one of the number one faves tutorials I swear by

Bouche Amey: If you ever used the old fashioned hair grease you have used petroleum jelly.

Excell Excell: Absolutely beautiful u did a great job

Kejuan Lynette: You are GORGEOUS!! Love the cut!

Who Asked Pam ?: vaseline has always worked on my hair it strengthens it and i love it

cranberry soda: Turned out super cute

Laetitia: I laught so much. Thanks for making this video. It shows what we viewers are going through when we try your tutorials. 1. Not the same hair texture , 2. Not the same length 3. Not the same products and somehow it needs to lion the same at the end. Sunday evening anxiety when taking the scraf off in the morning . And if it does not work out take your frustration out on your bf!!!!

pamela bailey: i loved your show about the Cantu products for natural hair and i actually use this product with the interlock moisturizer and repair conditioning as well as the leave in conditioner. I will now use the custard and will get back to you with the results. Thank you again.

kimberly moose: Adorbs and your personality is soo infectious!! I soo enjoyed and laughed!

Ure Okike: Vaseline is babe for moisturizing your hair boo!!!

PUNKY THE SINGER: you both look amazing lol xoxo

TyDazia Does It: Ahaha I'm pretty sure my mom still puts Vaseline in my brother's hair when she runs out of other stuff. His hair is long so it must have benefits

Skye Bunni: Vaseline was all I used on my hair coming up.. Vaseline and water that is.. made my curls pop.. lol

Nancy Okorji: Looks good! I tried to slick down my hair ....it's so difficult ...my hair is really hard.

Miphimi: omg, ur hair is gorgeous...keep ur recipe sis...u did that and its beautiful on u

Kimberley Guzman: Hilarious on your reluctency of the vaseline. But yea, the hairs and cooperation with the products do play differently. I believe my texture is the same as yours, though I love the laid neat look. With that said, JOB WELL DONE!

Pmvnxt Aley: Omg thank you I tried this it’s so bomb

Tiffany Akinyi: i love this video, its so funny how you copy exactly how she wrapped her hair

Kiah Kye • uh: Every time I watch TWA hairstyles the more I get excited to cut my hair. I got 20+ screenshots of TWA ideas more than half from yt
